This was a final that needed to be won and we did it! What a relief! Messi lifts a trophy as Barcelona captain. 35 trophies won for the club, 32 goals in 34 finals played for the club. What an absolute beast this guy is, we will never see anything like it ever again.
Piqué sacrificed himself, playing through pain and resisted to guarantee the win and the clean sheet, incredible show of willpower by the centre back.
How good was Frenkie De Jong though? Messi delivered a masterclass yet the Dutchman was still the best on pitch. He was incredible, playing everywhere, carrying the ball forward, crisp passing and he dominated Athletic Bilbao.
Barcelona gets its revenge on Athletic for the Super Cup, making them lost two Spanish Cup finals in two weeks! Beautiful to see after the only thing that they do on pitch is kick out at our players and get away with cynical challenges all the time.
Griezmann didn’t have his best match, but he still crucially opened the scoring and defended with his life. Credit where it’s due. Same for Alba who’s not a player that I think should still be at the club but delivered two fantastic assists, if only he could defend better…
Dest was fantastic, this guy will be a guarantee for the next ten years. Also liked what I saw of Mingueza once again, and Pedri was more mature in possession too. This win is the kid’s as much as it is for the senior players.
