Over the last few weeks we’ve been fortunate enough to have quite a bit of rest between games, but that’s no more as we begin the month of March, one of the toughest and most challenging months of the season so far, with some absolutely monumental games coming up in 3 different competitions.
We begin March with a home game, live from the Estadi Olympic Lluis Companys at 4:15pm local time. An afternoon kick off that sees Barca up against the basque side, Real Sociedad. Yet another hugely important game in the La Liga title race. Ahead of such an important month for our season, we really are in desperate need of seeing the ultras return to the stadium. To build up that fierce atmosphere ahead of games against some really tricky opponents.
A Quick Look at our opponent:
Real Sociedad are and have been one of the best teams in Spain over the years and that’s no different this time around. This afternoon wont be a straight forward match, no one expects it to be. But we’ll be hoping our recent form in 2025 can help pull us through.
Maybe fortunately for us, ahead of the game, there are reports that Kubo will miss the game as well as Zubimendi with half of Sociedad’s focus being on their huge European game later in midweek. So they may be a weak end team, but to be honest, that wont matter too much. They’ve got an incredibly talented group of players, young and experienced in the league, with Imanol as their head coach. Funnily enough, over the course of the season so far, they’ve conceded the same number of goals (23), as they have conceded.
Pretty much summing up how well balanced their side is. In fact, although they’re nowhere near yes in terms of goals scoring. They have conceded 2 fewer over the course of the season so far. Regardless, it is a big test for the team ahead of a monumental month of football.
Predicted lineup:
For me, seeing as our last game was that mental game in midweek against Atleti, i still think Flick will keep things relatively similar. He did say in his press conference yesterday that he is going to make some changes to the eleven that started a few days ago. So the question si, where will he make those changes? In defence, id look at giving Cubarsi a rest. Replacing him with Ronald Araujo, who really hasn’t played much recently. But he is still one of the best in his position, and its important we mange Cubarsi properly.
The same exact for Yamal, especially ahead of this month where every game is a big one. Ideally, i would rest Yamal too to be honest. And i would also love to see Gavi being played in his best position, deeper alongside Pedri, with Dani Olmo ahead of them both in midfield. Instead of playing Gavi at number 10, completely out of position for him. It’ll be a good chance for him to regain some confidence too which is so important. I would also keep Ferran Torres at striker too, and bring Lewandowski on later in the game.
My lineup:
Sczcesny
Kounde- Araujo- Iñigo- Balde
Pedri- Gavi
Raphinha- Olmo- Pau Victor
Ferran
