It’s been a busy week for Barca, 2 different competitions. 2 wins with one being a complete demolition. Only a few days ago at Mestalla, we scored our 12th goal against Valencia in 2 weeks of playing them, securing our spot in the Copa Del Rey semi finals with a thumping 5-0 win over them away at one of the most iconic venues of Spanish football. 3 days on from that, we play our second away game of the week. This time, in Andalucía, the hot pot of Spain. Live from 9pm local time in La liga, its Barcelona against Sevilla at the famous Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. These types of games are never easy, especially at such iconic and hostile stadiums like this. But of course, well be wanting to use our form since the turn of the year as inspiration to get us through a tricky encounter.
A Quick Look at our opponent:
As briefly mentioned above, the side from Andalucía are going to be a tricky test for this barca side. They might not be the Sevilla of old, dominating European competitions whilst fighting for the top 4 in La Liga. But they’re still a team that can potentially cause anyone problems. In terms of their league standings, they’re comfortably in the middle of the table only 7 points off the top 6. It’s a very tightly contested league season this year with only a number of points separating most of the table not only from each other, but also the European spots. The top 4 in our case is extremely competitive and tight right now. But also, where Sevilla find themselves too. Over the course of the league season so far, they’ve scored a total of 24 goals. And conceded only 6 more than that so its pretty balanced. In our case, we have scored almost three times the amount of Sevilla and are by far and away the top scorers in La Liga. All this combined with the fierce and always hostile environment at the home of Sevilla, makes this a very tricky yet highly important game in our campaign.
Predicted lineup:
For our lineup going into the game, fortunately for us, during midweek we were able rest and rotate a lot of key and important players thanks to how brilliant we were versus Valencia. So for that reason, I really wouldn’t look to change much at all. Especially Ferran Torres. He scored a hat trick and had a brilliant performance overall, he doesn’t deserve to be dropped even with Lewandowski on the bench. We saw such a fluid and free flowing attack in midweek and we need to keep that constant against Sevilla. Lewandowski is still such a important player for us, but in a game like this I’d opt to go with Ferran. Frenkie had a good performance too and has been growing in confidence, but I’d replace him with Gavi. Apart from that, I really wouldn’t look to change much else.
My starting 11:
Sczesney
Kounde- Cubarsi- Eric- Balde
Pedri- Gavi
Yamal- Fermin- Raphinha
Ferran
