After the disappointing performance in the league, the Catalans had to get up because a new Champions League match was in sight. This time they played against Dynamo away from home. Ronald Koeman was aware that his team in a good position in their group, so he gave rest to a few key players. As expected, the starting 11 was filled with players who haven’t really got the chance to prove themselves. One of them was Sergino Dest. With Sergi Roberto’s absence, he has a chance to prove himself to Koeman. Last night, he was in the starting line up, let’s see how he did!
Negatives
The first half of the match was overall slow and the players were too circumstantial. Dest didn’t have any outstanding weakness, however, there are still a few things that he can improve in his game. His crossings weren’t too efficient in the first half. His connection with Trincao was obviously still very raw but considering, they hadn’t really played with each other yet, it isn’t something we can criticize. Against more attacking opponents, he will have to pay attention to defending and attacking equally. Dynamo was not a big threat to Ter Stegen’s net but that won’t be like this most of the time. He’s still very young and he knows that his defending can improve and I’m sure it will too.
Positives
In the second half, Sergino Dest was absolutely amazing. There were many exciting and likable aspects in his game, but for me was the fact he was one of the most skillful, if not the most skillful player on the pitch. He wasn’t afraid to dribble past two or three players and he was successful most of the time. He was also very dangerous in the box, in fact, he scored a very nice goal which isn’t something you see from a right-back often in Barcelona these days. He was also very close to giving an assist to Riqui Puig. It looks like Sergi Roberto won’t be missed because this 20-year-old guy is ready to be a starter, even if we know he can still improve his defending.
