Barcelona bottle three times in a single match. Elections just had to be delayed again. The club deserves its ruin. Really, really pissed off with this and we’ve lived all kinds of shit for the past years. Gil Manzano did what he does best, ignore violence by Athletic and inevitably affected the match.
This trophy was the only chance we had of Messi leaving with at least one final trophy. I had written a nice post about the team and all, but the team had to BOTTLE IT again in the final minutes. Instead of complaining any further, I’ll simply leave what I had written below…
What if Barcelona won the match…
“This Spanish Super Cup win is all because this man, Marc André Ter Stegen. Qualified the team to the final by himself. Moreover, he guaranteed that Barcelona would win its first trophy in two long years of pain.
Griezmann was signed for moments like this. Stepped up big time in a difficult match where defeat seemed to be inevitable. Two well taken goals after a whole year of not being able to finish the simplest of chances. Thrilled for the Frenchman because as I said it before, he cares about the shirt he’s wearing!
He’s not the perfect fit for the club? Yes, and he was suffering on pitch because of his desire to succeed, not because he has a weak mentality. If he was weak, he’d never have worked under Simeone and led his country to World Cup glory.
Some players are worth to mention
Araújo was amazing, a rock at the back. And honestly if it wasn’t for the kid there would be no trophy either. He held the entire backline together covering for the disastrous defensive performances by Jordi Alba and Lenglet. Dest was decent.
De Jong has me surprised, man is finally looking like the €86 million man that Barcelona signed. His passing and movement have improved tenfold, he’s calmer on the ball and finally looks comfortable on pitch.
Messi played the entire final injured and won his 35th trophy for Barcelona, one of the most successful players of all time. If it wasn’t for him, no Super Cup would’ve been won as Athletic were triple marking him at times, leaving more space for Dembélé and Griezmann who scored twice.
Athletic Bilbao were the better team? Yes, they outperformed Barcelona big time and Marcelino outclassed Koeman as we all expected him to. The best doesn’t always win in football. And thankfully this was a rare occasion where Barcelona were the undeserving winner, not that it’s a bad thing after a 2020 of so much pain
Jordi Alba and Lenglet should never play for Barcelona again. Same for Sergi Roberto, Umtiti and many others.
I’m glad for this trophy because Messi at least will have won something in case he leaves at the end of the season, and some vindication for the young players too.
Happy ONLY for the players, not for Koeman or Tusquets. The man delaying the elections at all costs to keep in power and cover up Bartomeu’s misdeeds.”
