Just a quick one today, as again, it’s a quick turnover from our last big game away in Dortmund. Finally, however, we’re back at home in front of the home fans in yet another vital league game. Live from the Olympic stadium at Montjuic from 9pm local time, it’s Barca against Leganés. It’s a hugely important game given the state of the league table and the fact that we’re the last team to play Sunday night. So without further ado, let’s jump straight into the preview!
Quick Look at our opponent:
When it comes to our rival for the evening, newly promoted side Leganés are finding their return to the primera division a little difficult. They’ve been flirting with relegation all season long. They’re one of those yo-yo teams that always seem to get promoted but then are quickly sent back down again the season later.
You’ll remember one of our protagonists from the koeman era, Martin Braithwaite once played for Leganés. Not anymore, but there’s some trivia for you there. They’ve scored a total of 14 goals this season, which is more than 3 times less than the number we have. However, funnily enough they’ve only conceded 4 more goals than us, with 23 goals being their record.
Predicted lineup:
When it comes to the lineup for tonight’s game, seeing as the midweek game against Dortmund took a lot out of the players, I would expect to see so,e changes.
Of course, Flick won’t be on the sidelines as he’ll be facing his first of a 2 game ban this weekend. And ahead of our next league game against Atleti, I think it’s important to rotate now. So with that being said, I would imagine the likes of Olmo and maybe Pedri could get a bit of rest. And I’d love to see Gavi get a start in this one. Possibly even Pablo Torre.
Ideally, it’d be nice to rest Cubarsi too, but I doubt Araujo will start in this game. And then in attack, maybe we could see Raphinha given some rest too. Tonight is a huge game but with an even tougher match against Atleti on the horizon, it’s going to be interesting to see how Flick decides to lineup:.
My starting 11:
Peña
Kounde- Cubarsi- Iñigo- Balde
Gavi- Casado
Yamal- Torre- Ferran
Lewandowski
