Style of Play
Stylistically, Inigo Martinez could be one of the best fits for FC Barcelona. The 32-year-old, mostly plays as left sided centre back in back 2. But he can also play as a LCB in back 3. He is comfortable with the ball at his feet and has the ability to carry the ball out of defense. He can also play intelligent pass from centre defense to either keep possession or to progress the ball up the pitch.
Defensively, Inigo, is an extremely intelligent and with a lot of experience. He is capable of holding his own against any opposition. Furthermore, he knows how to be quite aggressive and fearless. Inigo is not afraid to jump into tackles or break opposition attacks mid transition with his witty interceptions. Coming in at whooping height of 6’0 feet, Inigo doesn’t shy away from using his tall muscular stature to intimidate and pressurise opposition forwards. Not only that but he also has an amazing aerial prowess which not only helps him clear aerial balls but also score from set pieces.
He is also well known for his leadership qualities and his ability to read games and all these features has led him to be likened to Barcelona Legend, Carles Puyol.
