Tonight, in Saudi Arabia, its Barça’s first chance of a trophy this season. As well as being our third game of the new year too, its also the final of the Spanish Supercup. Standing in our way is our eternal rivals, Real Madrid. So for yet another time, El Clásico will decide the winner of this competition.
A Quick Look at our opponents:
As far as Real Madrid go, they need no introduction. And neither do their players, we know pretty much everything about them by now, their strengths and weaknesses, and of course their most key players. Mbappe has taken a time to adapt to life at Real Madrid, but he’s always going to be a threat with his pace in behind our high line.
Same with Vinicius who isn’t just a problem in that respect, but he’s always looking to provoke, get under our skin to try and benefit off of it himself. Bellingham, as a midfielder doesn’t always have an impact on the game, but if he’s given the freedom to make runs in and around the box, then for me, he’s probably their biggest threat. He can go a game without doing much and then pop up with a goal to completely change the outlook. Valverde’s shots from distance are also a big threat. So for us, its not going to be easy to pin all these players down.
However, we already have experience of playing them once already this season away at the Bernabéu. So channeling what we leant from that game and applying it in tonight’s match is going to be very important. No matter what we all think of Madrid, they simply never have to play good and they can still win. They’re the only team in the world who can get away with it. So for us, perfection is what were looking for in our game to stand any chance of coming away with the title.
Predicted lineup:
In terms of the lineup for tonight’s game, I think we can all expect who will feature in the starting eleven. There’s possibly only one or two questions that need to be answered, and that’s who will start in goal, and who will start out of Gavi or Dani Olmo. Reportedly, it looks like Scezney will start between the posts after impressing Hansi Flick in recent games. And for me, as good as Peña has been, id still go with Scezney.
Lastly, after a standout performance against Athletic Club, with a goal and an assist in the 2-0 win, will Gavi start a consecutive game for the first time in over a year and a half, or will the newly registered Dani Olmo replace him in the side? For me, Gavi should start the game, not only is he a class talent and a key player for us regardless, but he is fulled on pure hatred against Madrid so we need that. Bringing Dani Olmo on against tired legs can be a fantastic option to have.
With all that’s being said in the media about Araujo, our best centre back alongside Cubarsi, id love to see him start tonight, however Iñigo hasn’t done anything to warrant being dropped either. So maybe that’s another question that needs to be answered by Flick.
My starting lineup:
Scezney
Kounde- Iñigo- Cubarsi- Balde
Pedri- Casado
Yamal- Gavi- Raphinha
Lewandowski
