Barça won their first UCL away game of the season against Dynamo Kyiv, from an Ansu Fati strike. Overall, it was a decent game but the goals scored each match is concerning. Barca needs to be finishing chances they receive, good finishing along with determination should do the trick.
Next up in the UCL, FC Barcelona will face Benfica at the Camp Nou, previously Barca lost to Benfica 3-0 away but after that humiliation, Benfica went on to lose 4-0 and 5-2 against Bayern. IF Barça could win against Benfica, they will clinch the knockout stages, but nothing is guaranteed, football is an unpredictable game. Nonetheless a pleasing result, let’s hope we can continue this form with some more goals and wins! Visca El Barca.
Defense
GK: Ter Stegen – 8/10: Was absolutely magnificent, made a lot of Barca fans jump with his great saves. Good performance to keep a clean sheet and keep Dynamo out from equalising.
RB: Mingueza – 7.5/10: Played defensively well and contributed to the winner from a pass from the right flank, however his crossing should improve, other than that, a great game, as he covered both sides because of Dest’s absence.
CB: Eric Garcia – 7.5/10: Another solid performance by the 20 year old. Game by game, his improvement can be clearly seen.
CB: Lenglet – 7/10: Started in replacement of Pique, and he did decent to keep out danger.
LB: Alba – 6.5/10: Not a great performance from Alba, he looked lost in the attack as he couldn’t make the best pass to look threatening, but his presence was vital in the build up.
Midfield
CM: Nico – 7.5/10: Continuing his good form, Nico was wonderful. His physicality and passing helped Barca a lot, he was also seen dribbling quite well.
CDM: Busquets – 7/10: Played a good game, looked more like himself. His passing was great as well as holding the midfield below.
CM: De Jong – 6/10: Coming back from an injury, Frenkie still needs to find his older self. His involvement in the attack was minimal and couldn’t make an impact that could be seen.
Attack
RW: Gavi – 6/10: Tried out in a new position, Gavi wasn’t that all impressive. His effectiveness dropped from when he was in the midfield.
ST: Memphis – 7.5/10: Even though he missed an early chance, Memphis played quite well. He played 5 key passes and thrived from set pieces.
LW: Ansu Fati – 8/10: Scored the winner for Barça in Kyiv, and it was powerful. Ansu was what Barça missed early on in the season along with Dembele. The new number 10 is on a roll!
Substitutes
Dembélé – 7/10: Gave Barça a more refreshed look on attack. His speed and dribbling made Barça look more threatening in Kyiv. But he should improve on his decision making.
Araujo – 6.5/10: Coming back from injury, he didn’t have much to do.
Balde – N/A: Came on in the final 3 minutes of the match, and barely touched the ball
