After the game against Getafe on Thursday, the Catalans didn’t have much time to rest. This time they played against Villareal. From now on, every match is a final we could say because Barca can win the league if they win every remaining match. Koeman didn’t change much on the starting lineup compared to the last game. Against Villarreal, Griezmann started once again alongside Lionel Messi. Let’s see how he did!
First half
He was very active from the start of the match. He had a big chance to take the lead from De Jong’s great pass however the goalkeeper saved it. There are matches when we barely see him or he isn’t involved in attacking at all, but this game was not one of them. After the conceded goal in the 26th minute, the Frenchman came to the rescue equalizer.
In less than two minutes, Griezmann got a very good ball to behind the Villarreal defense and could finish it with an amazing technique. He didn’t stop there, a few minutes later, from a very bad defending mistake, he scored and Barca took the lead. He had an amazing first half. He’s very unpredictable because you never know when he will have a good match but when he has, his presence is always decisive for the team.
Second half
He played 35 minutes in the second half and he was less active than in the first half. There were few moments when it seemed he could get his third goal but after all, he ended up being the man of the match with his two goals and we can’t complain.
