Quick summary of yesterday’s meeting between Carles Tusquets, Joan Laporta, Victor Font & Toni Freixa. First and the most important, the FC Barcelona presidential elections won’t be held in January. As per reports, 7th March is the date when the elections will occur, official confirmation pending. There wil be more revenues + voting by email.
Eric Garcia will join Barcelona as a free agent in the summer, not in January. Reportedly, his asking price was around 8 million€, Laporta & Freixa proposed an idea of signing him on a free. However, Victor Font wanted to renegotiate with Manchester City to reduce the price.
Alongside Eric Garcia, Memphis Depay won’t be signed in January too. He has a contract with Lyon till the summer. Therefoer, there is a huge possibility of him signing for Barcelona as a free agent, like Eric. The will not inverst money in the January transfer window.
As per reports, Ronald Koeman has requested a meeting with interim president & all the candidates to convince them to sign Eric Garcia. Koeman believes it’s essential to add another centre-back to the squad. However chances are very slim of Garcia joining FC Barcelona this month without the elections.
According to @ffpolo, Eric Garcia not arriving in January disappoints the sporting sector of Barcelona. In the technical planning for the second half of the season they consider it totally necessary to sign a central defender.
