This time in the Champions League, Fc Barcelona went to Budapest to play against Ferencvaros. The first match in the Camp Nou ended with a 5-1 win for the Catalans. Ronald Koeman decided to rest a few players once again. Leo Messi, Coutinho, and Ter Stegen stayed in Barcelona. The team played an excellent, superior first half. Alongside Braithwaite and Trincao, Ousmane Dembelé was in the starting line up too. Let’s see how the Frenchman did!
Negatives
Usually, Dembelé’s issue overall is that he does not always make the best decisions and rather rush into a bad one. However, this match was a huge improvement for him in that aspect. There really isn’t much to complain about. He could still improve on his finishing and decision making in the last stage (for example, when he tried to pass the ball to Riqui Puig rather than shoot but he ended it with a wrong pass), but with more match routine and more minutes, he will be okay, I think. We are close to the best Dembelé, but he has to continue on this path to reach his full potential.
Positives
Ousmane Dembelé is one of the few players in Europe who can change his speed in a second and beat more than three opponents with that. He is crucial for the team, and he showed that yesterday once again. He and Jordi Alba understand each other better, match by match. Most of his crossings were ridiculously good, he even gave an assist to Braithwaite. He also didn’t lose possession many times, which is an improvement from the previous matches. He had a crucial part in the first goal as well, He gave Jordi Alba a lovely pass. Thanks to the selfless Braithwaite, he took the penalty and scored. For everyone’s sake, I hope he can continue on this path because he’s already one of the most important players on the team, and we will need him in the whole season.
