Five days after the 2-2 draw at the Camp Nou against Atlético, Barcelona are playing again, this time against the ‘Yellow Submarine‘ away from home tonight. A weird clash, as most culés don’t see Barcelona winning the league this season. Meanwhile, Real Madrid will face Athletic Bilbao. Should we fail to win tonight against Villarreal, FC Barcelona can say goodbye to the trophy.
As always, Sétien has released the squad list that will be travelling to Villarreal with the following 24:

Villarreal are on a good series. If they struggled in the first half of the season, they are back since the re-start. Now, they are in a comfortable 5th place as they haven’t lost in the last five games. Winning against Sevilla is a respectable figure, and it will be no easy task: a stunning 4-4 draw was the last result at the Estadio de la Ceramica. They do concede a lot, but they also score a ton of goals, notably with Moreno, Bacca and also ex-Blaugrana Paco Alacacer, to not forget Chukwueze. In other words, there is no way Barcelona can take a victory tonight as granted.

Not all is well at Barcelona. Engaged in a two horse title race with archrivals Real Madrid, a sinking ship is how Barcelona’s horizon could be described. Once again, the Catalans have failed to take all three points away from home, as they haven’t won away since June 13th against Mallorca. Consequence? We are now second and Madrid are now 4 points ahead of Quique’s men. A trophyless season is glooming over Barcelona’s clouds, as there is little hope for the UCL title in August. Barcelona has to deal with a couple of injuries as well, the latest including Firpo, while Umtiti is already ruled out for this League season. Frenkie, on his side, is still injured while Dembele is only set to comeback in late August. This season is for sure a season to forget.
