Finally, after 2 long weeks of international football, Barca are back in action. Ahead of a massive few weeks in Europe, we turn our attention to La liga football. This time, at home against Las Palmas. Live from Montjuic at 9pm local time. Xavi’s barca will be looking to start off an important month on a positive note, against what is a really impressive Las Palmas side.
A Quick Look at our opponents:
Like I’ve mentioned previously, Las Palmas are a more than decent side with a lot of talented players, as well as a lot of familiar faces too. Former Barca players such as Sandro, Munir and former academy product Mika Mármol all play a starring role, especially the latter. He’s had a really impressive season and there were a lot of rumours even linking him back to Barcelona in the summer. But for now, he’s enjoying life at the canary team. Of course, we can’t forget either their Coach, Garcia Pimienta. Who has over 20 years of experience within the Barca youth teams and was even linked with the first team job on many occasion too. When we look at the table, they’re comfortably in the middle section of the table. They’re pretty much more than guaranteed to stay up and that’s testament to the job pimienta has done there. They’re not going to be an easy team to play either, although they’re one of the only teams in La Liga who want to play a high line. First game back after the international break; its going to be a tricky one.
Predicted lineup:
When it comes to the lineup, i think they’ll be a lot of questions regarding it. Firstly, our head coach, Xavi, wont be on the sidelines for it after he was sent off in our last game vs atlético Madrid. He didn’t do anything, but as always with these referees, even doing nothing is still too much. So we wont be seeing him for the next 2 games. We’re also probably not likely to see Christensen either after he was left out of group trining yesterday.
One bit of good news however is that Pedri was seen back on the training pitch doing specific work. With both him and Frenkie aiming to be back for our first game against PSG in the champions league. Cancelo is also back. One big question for me is who will start at striker. Lewandowski played a lot of football in the national break and had discomfort after his last game. And as he only played a couple of days ago, Vítor Roque could be given a great chance at starting. And for me, that’s exactly what id do. Especially with Las Palmas’ high line. Roque is incredible at exploiting space and it will also give Lewandowski a chance to rest. I’d also rest Lamine too. After a standing ovation at the Bernabeu, I think he deserves it. He played the full 90, whilst raphinha only played a half. That’s who id start in his place.
My starting 11:
Ter Stegen
Kounde- Cubarsi- Iñigo- Canceló
Gundogan- Romeu- Fermin
Raphinha- Roque- Felix
