Gavi today will become the youngest player in the history of FC Barcelona to play 100 official matches. The Andalusian midfielder, who aims to start at El Sadar, will take to the pitch at 19 years and 29 days, surpassing the current record that belongs to Bojan Krkic. The former Linyola striker reached it at the age of 19 years, 2 months and 24 days in the 2009-10 season. The third on this ‘podium’ is Pedri, who reached 100 in January 2023 at 20 years, two months and three days.
Gavi could act as a ‘false winger’ on the left in Xavi’s 4-3-3. Although Gündogan also adapts to that position and perhaps moves Gavi to the right-handed interior zone. Pedri’s loss due to injury does not give many options to Xavi, who will also line up Frenkie de Jong and Oriol Romeu.
With a contract until 2026 and a clause of 1,000 million, Gavi has all the numbers to continue breaking records of this type due to his enormous regularity:- 47 games in the 2021-22 season, 49 in 2022-23 and he has already played all three of this season’s league games until 99. He has six goals and 13 assists till now.
