FC Barcelona defeated Osasuna 1-2 at El Sadar in a hard-fought match. The winning goal was scored by Robert Lewandowski from the penalty spot in the 86th minute, after he was brought down in the area by Chimy Ávila.
Barça started the match well, but Osasuna responded and began to dominate. The home side had several chances, but Marc-André ter Stegen was in inspired form. In the last minute of the first half, Jules Koundé headed in the opener for Barça.
In the second half, Barça came out with more intensity and controlled possession. However, Osasuna refused to give up and equalized in the 76th minute through Chimy Ávila.
With 10 minutes to go, Barça had a golden opportunity to score the winning goal. Frenkie de Jong played a through ball to Lewandowski, who was brought down inside the area. The referee awarded a penalty and Lewandowski converted it with aplomb.
Barça held on in the closing minutes to secure the three points. With this victory, Barça stay in the hunt for the LaLiga Santander title.
The match was a physical and intense affair, with both teams giving everything they had. Barça had the better of the chances, but Osasuna defended well and made it difficult for the Catalans to create clear-cut opportunities.
Lewandowski was the difference-maker in the end. The Polish striker scored the winning goal and also had a number of other chances. He is now the top scorer in LaLiga Santander with four goals in three games.
Barça’s victory is a boost for their title hopes. They are now third in the table, just two points behind Real Madrid. The Catalans have a tough schedule ahead of them, but they have the quality to challenge for the title.
Portuguese duo and Martinez make cameo appearances
The new signings of Barcelona, Joao Cancelo and Joao Félix, made their long-awaited debuts in the team’s 1-2 win over Osasuna. Cancelo, who joined the club on loan from Manchester City, came on as a substitute in the 58th minute for Sergi Roberto. Félix, who also joined on loan, came on in the 79th minute for Oriol Romeu.
Cancelo, a versatile defender who can play at right-back or left-back, made an immediate impact, creating several chances for his teammates. Félix, a talented attacking midfielder, also showed flashes of his potential.
The debuts of Cancelo and Félix are a major boost for Barcelona, which is looking to challenge for the LaLiga Santander title this season. The two Portuguese players have the potential to be key contributors to the team’s success.
