Oriol Romeu is officially an FC Barcelona player. Romeu arrives from Girona FC in a separate operation to the signing of Pablo Torre. The youngster leaves for one year without option to buy. The team closes the deal just before the tour of the United States. Oriol will travel with his new teammates.
The operation has been closed for about 3.4 million euros. Furthermore, the player has given 1.1 million from his own pocket. It demonstrates his desire to wear the azulgrana jersey. Moreover, his salary is not very high, he will be registered without problems.
Due to the rush of the operation, Oriol will be presented in the United States. The club should confirm the date and details of the presentation in the next days. Already this morning he has trained with his teammates, he was very close with his friend Sergi Roberto, they were teammates in his time at La Masia and Barcelona B.
Romeu has experience in Europe, he was champion of the Champions League with Chelsea in 2012, followed his passage through England when he signed for Southampton, he was requested by former Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman. He played seven seasons in the English team, became the 11th player with more games in Southampton and the 6th player in the Premier with more recoveries in that line of seven seasons.
In his only season in Girona he was the second player with more minutes in the squad, surpassed by Santiago Bueno. It should be added that he was the player with the most recoveries and had a 87.28% pass success rate.
