Ilkay Gündogan maintains his idea of playing for FC Barcelona. Manchester City is decisively counterattacking to try to get the 32-year-old German international midfielder. He’s an important part of Pep Guardiola’s team, and they look to extend his contract that expires on June 30th. But according to the German media Sport Bild, he has different plans. The midfielder wants to start a new stage in the Spanish League dressed as a Blaugrana.
The information indicated that Borussia Dortmund still dreams of the player’s repatriation as a replacement for Englishman Jude Bellingham, very close to being transferred to Real Madrid. However, Gündogan expects to play for Barcelona. Even in the last few hours his name has been included in the list of crack experts that the Saudi Arabian League wants to take away with never-before-seen offers.
According to some rumors, Gündogan would earn 4.5 million euros net for each of the three seasons that Barcelona offers him. Accordung to MD, this contract for three seasons is one of the most convincing arguments that Barcelona used to attract Gündogan. He, on the other hand, is excited to try a new experience in the Spanish League. City propose a shorter contract.
Focused on the Champions League final
His definitive answer, however, will be after the Champions League final. City will play this coming Saturday in Istanbul against Inter Milan. Winning the title for the first time for the English club might culminate a cycle in the best way.
Xavi Hernández already insisted in his latest allusions to the culé market: All the footballers he has spoken with want to go to Barça.
