Next June, Barça expects to get another 7 million euros of the investment of 31 that they made for Francisco Trincão. Except a bizarre situation, Sporting Lisbon, fourth in the Portuguese league, will stay in the league. When Sporting signed the winger on loan, that was the only way that could prevent his buy option from becoming compulsorily. Sporting will buy 40% of Trincao’s rights and a total of 50% of the player’s rights.

At the Camp Nou they will keep the other 50% in case there is a future sale. Although the Portuguese club will pay his salary. On July 13, 2022, Barça announced the loan of the winger until June 30, 2023, assuming his salary of 2.4 million euros. Barça did not specify the amounts of the operation but they did come to light in Portugal.
Being SAD, Sporting sent a statement to the Securities Market Commission specifying that it would pay 3 million euros for the forward’s loan. Moreover, they clarified that they have a purchase option for the player of 7 million euros as long as they remain in the category.
Sporting’s statement also specified that Barça reserved a buyback option between 20 and 25 million euros. The amount depends on when they will execute it. But for now it seems highly unlikely that Barça will bring him back.
Didn’t live up to the expectations
Francisco Trincão landed at FC Barcelona in the summer of 2020 from Sporting Braga for 31 million euros. In the 2021-2022 season he was loaned to Wolverhampton. Wolves didn’t excecute the purchase option that they had for him. According to several reports, Wolves had to pay a “penalty” of 6 Million Euros for not excecuting the buy option for him.
Therefore, the total amount that Barça received for the Portuguese should be around 16 Million Euros. Hopefully, a future departure from Sporting will gain Barça more money for him.
