Borussia Dortmund’s striker Youssoufa Moukoko made history this past Saturday at the Bundesliga. He became the youngest player (17 years and 350 days) to score ten goals in the Bundesliga. He continues to show that he is a player to keep in mind for the future, especially due to his contract situation.
Moukoko’s contract with Borussia Dortmund ends at the end of the season. Therefore, the big teams in Europe, including Barça, are attentive in case they can get his signing at zero cost next summer. However, in his club they are trying to renew him at all costs. But to date there are no news about the negotiations. His future is currently in the air while he continues to be important for his team.
In this uncertain scenario, Moukoko was asked about his intentions beyond this season. The striker was open to continuing in Germany despite the interest of other leading clubs: “I have been here at Borussia Dortmund for seven years and I feel at home. I know this club well and coach Edin Terzić trusts me.” Moukoko He also wanted to thank his teammates for the Bundesliga goalscoring record, noting that “I wouldn’t score goals without them.”
Despite his extreme youth, the good form of Moukoko could open the door to play the Qatar World Cup. The German team just lost Timo Werner due to an injury. The rest of the strikers except Füllkrug (10 goals in 15 Bundesliga games) are underperforming so far this season. In Germany they are already asking for his call-up and it would be a good opportunity to see him in action. Barca had good reports on him and he is followed closely.
