FC Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong might still be heading to the Premier League in the coming days. He is one game away from the landmark 100 LaLiga appearances as a Barça player. But it remains to be seen if the Dutchman will reach his centenary in this competition.
The FC Barcelona number 21, came on as a substitute against Rayo Vallecano. He has an uncertain future right now. Frenkie is on the agenda of Manchester United and Chelsea. Furthermore, Barça are thinking about his transfer for economic and financial reasons.
It is unlikely that De Jong’s future will be resolved soon. Therefore, the Dutchman should be at the Reale Arena in San Sebastian coming Sunday. With Busi out with suspension, he will likely get his 100th league appearance.
The ‘youngster’ is now 25 years old
De Jong signed for Barça on 23 January 2019 from Ajax for 75 million euros plus a further 11 million euros in variables and was presented on 5 July 2019 at the Camp Nou in front of 19,850 fans.
He made his debut on 16 August 2019 in the first opening game of La Liga 2018-19, at San Mamés, against Athletic (1-0), at 22 years of age.
In the 99 games he played so far, he scored 8 goals. Moreover, he has 9 assists and saw 13 yellow cards, as well as being sent off twice for accumulation of cautions. He has a total of 7,795 minutes.
With Frenkie De Jong on the pitch, Barça have won 62 LaLiga matches, drawn 19 and lost 18. Real Madrid, Betis, Real Sociedad and Valencia, with six encounters with each of them, are the teams he has faced most often.
