Barça have a lot of work to do in the final days of the transfer window and one of the tasks they are working on is improving the right-back position. Xavi Hernandez doesn’t trust Sergiño Dest. Therefore, the american fullback is yet to appear in a matchday squad this season. Meanwhile, Barça are looking at other options. There are several names on the table and one is Hector Bellerin. And according to latest rumors, the club asked him to wait because he is the most viable option.
Barça prefer Juan Foyth, as they see him as the best option for the right back position. But his €42 million release clause is prohibitive, with Villarreal suggesting they will not negotiate for the Argentine.
There have also been difficulties pursuing a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Thomas Meunier. The German side were open to a deal but not so late in the window, with it proving difficult for them to find a replacement.
Therefore, Bellerin is a good alternative. The La Masia graduate spent a decade at Arsenal. But he’s out of favor, and the London club might let him leave the club for free this month following a loan spell with Real Betis.
Bellerin is an attacking, quick right-back who would fit Xavi’s style. He would also be low cost.
