This morning Gerard Romero dropped another ‘bomb’: After a all-night work from Mateu Alemany, Jules Kounde will “99%” become a new Barcelona player. It’s a very surprising update, as yesterday it looked like he was all set to sign for Chelsea. If signing Raphinha was a “Malcom” Move, Signing Kounde would be an “INIESTAZO” move by FC Barcelona.
If there’s something that we are learning this summer – is that the Pull of FC Barcelona is unmatchable. For a decade we had a board that had to pay huge salaries to player, now it’s different times. People like Mateu Alemany run the negotiations, and he’s a man who can’t take “no” for an answer.
Plus, we have to appreciate the work of Xavi behind the scenes. The legend talks to our targets and make them believe in the project.
That way, we have players like Raphinha, Lewa, Kessie and Christensen that chose the project over bigger salaries. In that way, Xavi is getting pretty much every player he wants.
Kounde is still not a FC Barcelona player. But there are many factors that can make us optimistic, even before the update from Romero. One thing is for sure: If Kounde wouldn’t prefer Barcelona, he would already sign for Chelsea. It’s a fact that Chelsea didn’t want him to travel to Portugal with Sevilla. The fact that he did that means he’s waiting for Barcelona.
It can still go wrong, as the club will have to make the financial effort and maybe sell players to make this move a reality. However, this morning we can be optimistic.
