Barcelona still reportedly think that Ousmane Dembele could accept their latest contract renewal. They still hope the Frenchman could stay at the Camp Nou.
Dembele is a free agent now his contract has expired and it’s still not clear where he will be playing his football next season.
Relevo are reporting that Barca think Dembele could renew and claim he was offered a deal which is at the same level as Ansu Fati’s.
The new contract offer is worth between €6-7 million net per year but is a 40% reduction from what Dembele had been being paid at the Camp Nou.
The report also reckons that Barca “see him as compatible with Raphinha” which suggests that if the Brazilian does arrive it does not necessarily mean the end for Dembele.
Barca seem confident Dembele will agree because he’s told the club he wants to stay, it’s also thought that he does not have any other firm offers to date.
Raphinha deal does not close the door to Dembele
Last night, Gerard Romero broke the story or Barcelona set to bear Arsenal and Chelsea in the race for Raphinha. It looks like Raphinha only wants to join Barcelona, and Leeds will eventually listen to him. The only tactic possible to win higher offer might just work here.
But the recent reports say that, ideally, Xavi would want both Dembele and Raphinha in his squad. So if eventually Dembele will accept the lower offer of Barcelona, he will stay at the club. Time will tell if that’s the case. But right now it looks like he has no serious offers from other clubs.
Do we have the money?
According to recent reports, Barcelona are about to close the second Economic Lever. With that deal, reports are suggesting that Barcelona would have 200m Euros to spend in the transfer market this summer. The main targets are set: Raphinha, Lewandowski, Kounde and Bernardo Silva.
Kessie and Christensen’s deals should be official this weekend. Next we’ll have to see who will the club sign from other clubs. And let’s not forget the possible renewal of Dembele, and Gavi.
It’s going to be a long and interesting summer.
