The official announcement is already here. Philippe Coutinho moves on loan to Aston Villa until the end of the season. For the Brazilian, he will have an opporunity to revive his career. For Barcelona, loaning out Coutinho will allow the registration of Ferran Torres.
The Brazilian was looking for a way out because he wants to play regular football so he will take part in the World Cup.
Aston Villa will have a buy option on Coutinho at the end of the season. But we don’t know the exact figure, as both clubs didn’t say that.
A Lose-Lose deal
Yesterday, 4 years ago, Philippe Coutinho signed for FC Barcelona. He did that after months of saying he was “injured” – only to force his way out. We wrote about the “Transfer Karma” here. In retrospect, the only winner of this deal was Liverpool. The money they received for Coutinho they used to sign the players they needed to become elite club.
As for Barcelona and Coutinho, something didn’t “Click” from day one. Now, the Brazilian the player who earns the biggest salary in the team, while playing so little.
Hopefully, Coutinho will be able to do well at Aston Villa. It will be good for him and will allow Barcelona to sell him next summer.
