Last night we finally could have a first glimpse of the 2021-22 version of FC Barcelona. Koeman will have another season as the Barça coach, and there are many things to look for. However, last night the team missed many first team players, especially in the attack. Moreover, the opponent Barça faced, Nastic, is a small team, especially after they were down to 10 men. But still, there are some talking points from the match. Let’s talk about them
Yusuf Demir
The youngster was one of the main protagonists yesterday. According to recent reports, he’s one of the big surprises in the preseason so far. Some call him ‘Pedri 2.0’. I wouldn’t wannt put so much pressure on the youngster. But it wouldn’t be a surprise if we will see a lot more from him next season. Demir will start the season as a Barcelona B player, but Koeman might call him as soon as there’s room. He might even be above Collado in the pecking order.
Let’s not forget that last season Trincao impressed in the preseason. However, making it as a regular in the attack of FC Barcelona is very hard. So it’s a good thing that he will keep playing in the B team, and stay fit.
Alejandro Balde
The left back had an opportunity that he has a place in the first team. He showed how much pace and talent he has. However, the match vs Girona on Saturday will be important for him to prove that he can actually be the replacement of Jordi Alba. Is he ready for that jump? Time will tell.
Riqui Puig
Is it finally Riqui’s time? The youngster can have an opportunity this season to finally prove his worth. It might be the last chance for him to do that. Will Koeman give him minutes? Last season it seemed like he just don’t wanna do that.
Yesterday, Riqui showed once again that he has enormous talent. But will he play with midfielders like Pedri, De Jong and potentially new signing on the way? Let’s wait and see.
Rey Manaj
It might be a surprise for those of you who don’t know him. It was a great match for the 24 years old striker, scoring a hattrick. However, he doesn’t have a place in the first team, so the club will look to make a profit and sell him for the highest bidder. Always remember, scoring goals vs Nastic doesn’t mean you have a place in the first team of Barça.
Gavi
It was very exciting to see the 16 years old playing some first team football. Hoping to see a lot more from him.
Bottom line
Last night was a good opportunity to see some other new faces. Players like Moussa Ndiaye, Ramos Mingo and others had a chance to impress. However, the match vs Girona will be a better test, and then we will see who will stay with the first team for the stage in Germany
