The approach of was Real Sociedad proactive & bold, pushing players very high to apply man-to-man pressing, pressure Barcelona near their goal. Off the ball they defended in a back 5, closing half-spaces in order to neutralize Messi, Pedri & Griezmann. They were rigid, compact, however as soon as Barcelona grew into the game and La Real lost compactness, their massacre began.
Brutal, merciless, ruthless, blaugranas totallly dismantled their opponent tonight. 6 goals at Anoeta ( !!! ), domination, do-mi-na-ti-on. Still in disbelief, this was one of the greatest performances by Barça in recent years. In terms of productivity, performance, everything, to be honest. Picture perfect.
Masterful at space occupation, always a step ahead of La Real. Moreover, Busquets & Messi were fantastic at exploiting gaps in between the lines, Griezmann giving continuity to the ball, Dembélé & Dest making very important runs in behind of defense, attacking indefensible spaces. Alba, once again impactful, De Jong, the new libero.
Happiness, the game brought joy & hope of the better future. Barça are truly improving, progressing, striving for excellence. Furthermore, everyone enjoyed himself on the pitch, individually & collectively Barcelona were superior. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. Bravissimo, Barça. This is the level the players have to show on weekly basis, keep it up!
