June 1

1924 – Joan Gamper begins his fifth and final spell as club president.

1942 – FC Barcelona Hoquei is created.

1963 – 4-1 win over Real Valladolid in Copa quarter final second leg, 5-3 on aggregate.

1992 – In accordance with the agreement with FC Barcelona and COOB-92, the Olympic adaptation project begins.

1997 – Barça lose away to already relegated Hercules for a second time this season, all but ending FCB’s title push – 5 points adrift with 40 games played. Madrid need just one point from next two games to win the league title. Mourinho and Popescu suggest there were cash incentives behind the home team performance (and their post-game celebrations).

2002 – Uruguay goalkeeper Fabian Carini joins the club from Juventus on a one-year loan deal.

2006 – the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper is inaugurated.

2013 – Barcelona reach a joint-record 100 points as they finish the season as champions, beating Malaga 4-1. Record 15 point gap.

June 2

1912 – Steel scores a hat-trick as Barça win 7-2 away in the Campionat de Catalunya against Espanya.

1945 – Barcelona open Eduardo Torroja’s stand at the Camp de Les Corts

1957 – Barça win 5-1 away at Real Sociedad in the Copa semi-final first leg, thanks to goals from Martinez (2), Tejada (2), and Villaverde.

2016 – director of football Robert announces Dani Alves is to leave the club.

June 3

1928 – Arocha scores as Barça are held to a 1-1 draw at Chamartín in the Torneo de Campeones second leg meeting between FCB and Real Madrid. 3-3 on aggregate.

1936 – Enric Gensana is born. Moreover, he made 131 Liga appearances for the club from 1956-66, scoring 13 goals.

1979 – Neeskens scores as Barça win 1-0 over Sevilla but the club end the season in fifth place.

1984 – Barca are beaten 2-1 away to Mallorca in the League Cup QF. 2013 – Neymar is presented as a Barcelona player. His first words, in Catalan, are “Good afternoon everyone. I’m very happy to be here. This is a dream come true. Thanks to everyone.”

June 4

1953 – Holders Barça overturn 1-0 deficit to go through to the Copa semifinal 3-1 on aggregate against Real Santander. Goals: Cesar (2) and Basora.

1982 – Diego Maradona signs with FCB for the then-highest transfer fee paid by the club.

1983 – A 90th minute goal from Marcos gives Barça victory in the Copa del Rey final over Real Madrid in Zaragoza. Victor the other scorer. It is the club’s 20th Copa del Rey title.

1985 – Goals from Marcos (22) and Caldere (43) give Barca a 2-0 QF first leg win over Real Sociedad in the League Cup.

1997 – Pedro Zaballa dies

June 5

1898 – Francesc Coma is born. Played for the club from 1918-27.

1977 – Martí Vantolrà dies

1991 – Martin Braithwaite is born

2008 – Josep Guardiola officially signs his contract to become the head coach of FC Barcelona.

June 6

1943 – Barça beat Real Madrid 3-0 at home in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final. Scorers: Valle (34), Escolà (43), Sospedra (60). The second leg was to be a different story (11-1).

1954 – Barça are defeated 1-0 away at Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey SF first leg, eventually going through 2-3 on aggregate.

1970 – Albert Ferrer is born. Moreover, he made 204 Liga appearances for the club from 1990-98, scoring 1 goal.

1970 – Barça face Madrid in the quarterfinals of the Copa. When a penalty is given for a foul outside the box, the infamous ‘Cushions riot’ ensues. The game ends 1-1, 3-1 to Madrid on aggregate.  

1972 – Luis Cembranos is born. Moreover, he made 3 Liga appearances for the club from 1994-95.

1976 – The first game for the Catalan XI since the end of the Franco regime features Carles Rexach and guest players Johan Cruyff and Johan Neeskens, the latter scoring in the 1-1 draw with the USSR.

2015 – Barcelona become the first club in history to win two trebles with a 3-1 win over Juventus in Berlin.

June 7

1936 – Barcelona are beaten 4-2 away at Osasuna in the Copa del Presidente de la Republica semi semifinal first leg.

1953 – Holders Barcelona defeat Atletico Madrid 8-1 at home in the Copa semifinal first leg. Basora 3, Moreno 2, Kubala 2, Cesar with the goals.

1959 – Though 2-0 down at half-time, Barça defeat Real Madrid 4-2 away in the Copa semifinal first leg. Scorers: Kocsic (51, 69), Luis Suárez (67, 71)

1961 – Enric Laudet is re-elected President after a hard fought campaign against another former director, Jaume Fuset. Llaudet found a club in a difficult economic situation, with a debt of 289 million Spanish pesetas, largely for the construction of the Camp Nou. Unpopular decisions were taken, such as letting Kubala go and new players like Pesudo, Pereda, Seminario, etc were signed. His reign also saw the departure of Antoni Ramallets and Luis Suárez, the latter for 25 million pesetas, the most expensive in football history to date. On the pitch, Barcelona won the 1962-63 Copa del Rey and the 1965-66 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup under the reign of Llaudet.

1968 – Juan Antonio Pizzi is born. Moreover, he made 48 Liga appearances for the club from 1996-98, scoring 11 goals.

1987 – Steve Archibald scores twice as Barça beat Espanyol 2-1 at home in La Liga in the clubs’ fourth meeting of the season.

1985 – After a 2-0 win at home, Barca are held to a 2-2 draw away at Real Sociedad in the League Cup QF but go through 4-2 on agg.

1992 – Barça beat Athletic Bilbao to win the clubs 12th league title, ending the season as back-to-back title winners.

June 8

1941 – Barça win 3-2 in a friendly against Real Madrid at Chamartín. Goals: Bravo (7), Raich (28), Escolà (75).

1942 – Barça win 2-1 away at Valencia in the Copa del Generalísimo semifinal first leg.

1955 – Barça beat Racing Paris 3-5 at Parc des Princes with goals from Suárez, Villaverde (2), Mahjoub (OG) and Mandi.

1974 – Clares scores as Barcelona draw 1-1 with Espanyol in the Copa.

1984 – Javier Mascherano is born. Moreover, he made 203 Liga appearances for the club from 2010-18, scoring 1 goal.

1986 – Barca come back to draw 1-1 (2-1 aggregate win) in the semi-final second leg of the League Cup at the Camp Nou against Atlético de Madrid

1991 – Barcelona are given the guard of honour by Real Madrid, but lose 1-0 at the Bernabéu. Real Madrid win 1-0 at Bernabéu against Barça.  

1992 – Barcelona beat Smilde in Holland 20-1, Barcelona’s biggest win in a friendly to date.

2011 – FC Barcelona’s baseball section is disbanded 

2015 – Barcelona announce the signing of former La Masia player Aleix Vidal from Sevilla  

June 9

1930 – Barcelona win 3-2 against Valencia in a tribute match for Patrici Arnau i Pericas, with goals from Arocha (2) and Parera.  

1957 – Barça again beat Real Sociedad 5-1 to go through to the Copa del G final 10-2 on aggregate, this time at home. Goals: Villaverde 3, Verges, Martinez  

1993 – the first leg of the CdR SF ends in a 1-1 draw between Barça and Real Madrid. Bakero and Zamorano the scorers.

2007 – Lionel Messi scores twice as Barça draw 2-2 at home to Espanyol in La Liga.

2008 – President Joan Laporta and his board narrowly escape a vote of no-confidence that would have triggered a presidential election.

June 10

1910 – Ramón Zabalo is born. Moreover, he made 89 Liga appearances for the club from 1929-37 and 1944-45, scoring 5 goals.

1912 – Enrique Fernández Viola is born. Moreover, he made 17 Liga appearances for the club from 1935-36, scoring 8 goals.

1917 – Following Joan Gamper’s resignation, Ricard Graells takes over as president. Under his presidency the team won a Campeonat de Catalunya and a Copa del Rey. He also raised the cost of membership from two to three presetas and paid off 16,000 pesetas of debt, meaning the club was debt-free for the first time in its history.

1927 – László Kubala is born. Former Barcelona player (1951-61) and coach (1961-63 and 1980), László Kubala.

2003 – A post appears on Manchester United’s official site, arranged by Laporta’s group and MUFC, stating an agreement between two clubs that if if won elections, David Beckham would sign for Barcelona.

June 11

1903 – Vicente Piera is born. Moreover, he made 53 Liga appearances for the club from 1920-33, scoring 4 goals.

1935 – Eulogio Martínez is born. Moreover, he made 111 Liga appearances for the club from 1956-62, scoring 62 goals.

1936 – José Manuel Pesudo is born. Moreover, he made 65 Liga appearances for the club from 1961-66.

1986 – Barca are defeated 1-0 away in the first leg of the last ever League Cup Final by Real Betis.

June 12

1963 – Barcelona beat Pele’s Santos, the current world champions, 2-0 at the Camp Nou in a friendly game.  

1992 – Philippe Coutinho is born.

2014 – Barcelona and Chelsea confirm the sale of Cesc Fabregas after three seasons at FCB.

June 13

1943 – Real Madrid beat Barça 11-1 at home in the Copa del Rey semi-final. The match took place amongst high tensions. Before the game alleged that ref went to Barça changing room accompanied by police and said that he’d lay down the law severely. 8-0 at half time, players felt they were being discriminated against but then the head of state security is alleged to have told them they better play the second half if they wanted to leave the stadium alive. Afterwards the board offered its resignation. Both teams are fined.

1954 – Barça defeat Madrid 3-1 (3-2 on aggregate) in the Copa del Rey semi-final. César (9, 12) and Biosca (87) the scorers as Barcelona go through to their fourth straight final.

1996 – Jordi Cruyff scores his first and only goal for the Netherlands in a 2-0 win over Switzerland.

June 14

1925 – Benefit mach to raise funds for Orfeó Català between Barça and Juniper. Primo de Rivera bans any tribute to days before. This angered many and when Royal Marines band began to play Spanish national anthem at half-time, the stands whistled before applauding a quick change to English national anthem. A military edict is issued in the next few days – fines for directors and a ban on club activities for six months.

1936 – Escola scores five as Barcelona beat Osasuna 7-1 in the Copa semifinal second leg, to go through 9-5 on aggregate.

1942 – Barça win 3-2 at home in the Copa del Generalísimo semifinal second leg against Valencia to go through to the final 5-3 on aggregate.

1953 – Barça are defeated 2-1 away at Atletico Madrid but go through to the Copa final 9-3 on aggregate.

1959 – Goals from Luis Suárez (p. 34, 44),Villaverde (63) see Barça beat Madrid again in the CdG semi-final second leg, this time 3-1. Previous leg was 4-2 away win.

1960 – Vicente Piera dies 1986 – Two first half goals from Amarilla and Alexanco overturn Betis’ 1-0 first leg win as Barca win the last ever Spanish League Cup at the Camp Nou.

1997 – Real Madrid beat neighbours and reigning champions Atletico Madrid 3-1 to win the Liga title.

2001 – Barcelona are embarrassed by fourth division part-timers Balaguer in the Catalunya Cup, beaten 4-3 on penalties after 2-2 draw.

2006 – Eiður Guðjohnsen arrives from Chelsea.

June 15

1938 – Chus Pereda is born, Moreover, he made 134 Liga appearances for the club from 1961-69, scoring 42 goals.

1950 – Ladislao Kubala signs for the club along with coach Ferdinand Daučík. He does not make his Liga debut until 1951, due to a ban imposed by FIFA and the Hungarian Football Federation.

1963 – 1-1 draw at home to Valencia in Copa semifinal second leg. Will go to tie-break.

1964 – Michael Laudrup is born. Moreover, he made 167 Liga appearances for the club from 1989-94, scoring 40 goals.

1983 – Second leg of first ever Spanish League Cup fixture, 0-0 away draw at Sporting Gijón.

1992 – Roque Olsen dies

1997 – Barça beat Betis 3-0 at home (Oscar 43, Hristo Stoichkov 74, Luis Enrique 82) in rehearsal for upcoming Copa del Rey final. Lucho’s goal is the 100th league goal of the season for the first time in FC Barcelona history.

2003 – Joan Laporta sweeps to victory in the elections with more than 50% of votes.

June 16

1957 – Francisco Sampedro scores the only goal of the game in the 80th minute as Barça beat Espanyol to win their 13th Copa title.

1984 – Barca suffer a 2-1 home defeat to At. Madrid in the League Cup semi-final first leg. Pichi Alonso gave FCB lead in 10th minute but late Hugo Sanchez brace.

1993 – Barça are knocked out of the Copa del Rey in the semifinal after a 3-1 aggregate, 2-1 on night, defeat against Real Madrid.

2014 – Barcelona confirm the signing of Ivan Rakitić, with Denis Suárez heading to Sevilla on a two year loan deal.

June 17

1917 – Joan Gamper begins his third spell as president.

1934 – Catalunya play the first of two games against Leônidas’ Brazil at Les Corts, winning 2-1.

1995 – Clément Lenglet is born.

2001 – Barcelona have to beat Valencia at home on the final day to finish in a Champions League place.

2007 – Barça beat Gimnàstic de Tarragona 5-1 at Nou Estadi but end the season in second place to Real Madrid due to the latter’s better head-to-head record.

2008 – Josep Guardiola take over as first team manager after a brilliant season as coach of Barça B with whom he won promotion to Second Division B.

June 18

1963 – 1-0 win in Madrid over Valencia Copa semifinal tie-break game thanks to a Roberto penalty. 

1981 – Barça beat Real Sporting de Gijón 3-1 in the Copa del Rey final, their 19th Copa del Rey title.Goals: 1-0 (Quini 45’); 1-1 (Maceda 50’); 2-1 (Quini 59’); 3-1 (Esteban 66’).

1995 – Defending champions Barça go away to Athletic Bilbao and win 2-0 but only finish fourth in the league.

1997 – After one season with Barcelona , Laurent Blanc leaves the club for  Marseille.

2003 – David Beckham joins Real Madrid after ‘rejecting’ Barcelona.

June 19

1977 – Clares and Rexach (2) score as Barcelona beat Ferencvaros 3-0 in the Trofeo Iberico Badajoz final.

1987 – A bomb planted by ETA in the Hipercor supermarket in Sant Andreu kills 20 people.

June 20

1905 – Elemér Berkessy is born. Moreover, he made 28 Liga appearances for the club from 1934-36, scoring 3 goals.

1937 – Barcelona’s tour of the Americas begins with a 2-0 loss to Club America. 

1954 – Barcelona play in their fourth straight Copa del Generalísimo final but are beaten 3-0 by Valencia at Chamartín. Fuertes (2) and Badenes the scorers.

1976 – Juliano Belletti is born. Moreover, he made 71 Liga appearances for the club from 2004-07.

1993 – Stoichkov scores as Barça beat Real Sociedad 1-0 at home and win their third La Liga title in a row.

1999 – Real Zaragoza beat Barça 2-0 but Barcelona end the season as back-to-back champions in La Liga.

June 21

1936 – Ricardo Zamora helps Real Madrid beat Barça 2-1 in the Copa del Rey final after two goals in the first fifteen minutes. Escola the scorer for Barça.

1942 – Barça, coached by former goalkeeper Juan José Nogués, beat Atlético Bilbao 4-3 after extra time in the Copa del Generalísimo final, their 9th title and first in over a decade.

1953 – Barça wins their third straight Copa del Generalísimo thanks to goals from Kubala and Manchón as they beat Athletic Bilbao 2-1 at Chamartín.  

1959 – Barça beat Granada 4-1 with goals from (E. Martínez 2’, Kocsis 10’, Tejada Goal 67,’ Kocsis 76’) at the Bernabéu, their 14th Copa title.  

1984 – Barcelona get the KO of the Copa de La Liga by Atletico Madrid 4-2 on aggregate.  

1984 – Barca again suffer a 2-1 League Cup defeat, this time away, to At. Madrid and get the knock out of the competition.

1987 – Barça beat Real Zaragoza 3-2 at home but end the season second, three points off champions Real Madrid.

1989 – Gary Lineker ends three years in Catalunya with FC Barcelona and returns to England in a £1.1million move to Tottenham Hotspur.

2007 – The club appoints Pep Guardiola as the manager of Barça B.

June 22

1933 – Evaristo de Macedo is born. Moreover, he made 114 Liga appearances for the club from 1957-62, scoring 78 goals.

1936 – Ferran Olivella is born. Moreover, he made 214 Liga appearances for the club from 1956-69, scoring 1 goal.

1983 – Barca turn round 1-0 first leg defeat with a 5-2 win at home over At. Madrid

1997 – Barça beat Rayo Vallecano 2-1 away. 102 goals is the highest in league at the time but Barça finish La Liga two points behind Real Madrid.

June 23

1929 – Barça finish the season as Liga champions with a 4-1 win over Real Unión, two points clear of 2nd-placed Real Madrid.

1963 – Barcelona beat Real Zaragoza at Camp Nou 3-1 with goals from Pereda, Kocsis and Zaldua, the club’s 15th Copa del Rey title..  

2003 – Frank Rijkaard starts his journey as Barça coach, replacing Radomir Antic.

June 24

1907 – Ángel Arocha is born. Moreover, he made 60 Liga appearances for the club from 1927-33, scoring 50 goals.

1925 – Les Corts hosts a tribute to the Catalan choral society. 1934 – Catalunya play the second of two games against Brazil, a 2-2 draw at the Vista Alegre in Girona.

1978 – Luis García is born. Moreover, he made 25 Liga appearances for the club from 2003-04, scoring 4 goals.

1978 – Juan Román Riquelme is born. Moreover, he made 30 Liga appearances for the club from 2002-05, scoring 3 goals.

1987 – Lionel Messi is born.

1989 – Romerito, Valverde, Beguiristain and Roberto score as Barça beat Malaga 4-0 but end the season second to Real Madrid.

2001 – Josep Guardiola plays in his last ever game for Barça in a Copa 1-1 draw versus Celta Vigo.

1916 – Gaspar Rosés begins his first period as club president.

1982 – Fernando Navarro is born. Moreover, he made 21 Liga appearances for the club from 2001-06, scoring 1 goal.

1995 – Jordi Cruyff scores on his debut for the Catalan national team in a 5-2 win over Barcelona at the Nou Estadi de Tarragona.

2007 – Thierry Henry moves from Arsenal to Barcelona for 24 million.

2014 – Real Sociedad confirm the transfer of Chilean goalkeeper Claudio Bravo to Barcelona

June 26

1952 – FC Barcelona beat Juventus 4-2 thanks to goals from Machon, Basora (2) and Kubala in the Copa Latina semifinal at Parc des Princes.

1983 – Goals from Maradona and Carrasco help Barcelona to a 2-2 draw at the Bernabeu in the Copa de La Liga final first leg. The fans give Diego Maradona a standing ovation.

2001 – After a year at FC Barcelona, Emmanuel Petit returns to England to join Chelsea.

June 27

1920 – The fans elect Gaspar Rosés as the president for the second time.

1961 – Tejada (2) and Evaristo score as Barcelona beat Botafogo 3-2 in the Trofeo Naranja at Luis Casanova Stadium, Valencia.

2007 – FC Barcelona sign midfielder Yaya Touré for 9m euros.

June 28

1914 – Barcelona play their first game outside of daylight hours, using artificial lights, a 1-0 defeat to Arenas Getxo.

1959 – Pele scores twice as Barcelona lose 5-1 to Santos at the Camp Nou. Evaristo the scorer for Barça.

1997 – Barça win 3-2 against Real Betis (after extra time), with strikes from Figo (45, 114) and Pizzi (85) in the Spanish Cup final at Bernabéu. The Barça hymn is playing for four times.  

2007 – Barcelona sign Eric Abidal from Lyon for 9m euros.

June 29

1915 – Rafael Llopart takes over as president following Joaquim Peris de Vargas’ forced resignation.

1928 – Goals from Samitier, Arocha, and Sastre secure a 3-1 win and the Copa del Rey for Barça in the second replay of the final, almost a month after the previous game.

1934 – The Catalan XI beat reigning Liga champions Athletic Bilbao 5-1.

1939 – Les Corts ‘redeemed’, hosts its first friendly since the Civil War, a 9-1 win for Barcelona over Athletic Bilbao. Epi (2), Vergara (2), Vazquez among the scorers.

1943 – Antoni Torres is born. Moreover, he made 270 Liga appearances for the club from 1965-76, scoring 2 goals.

1952 – César scores the only goal of the game at Parc des Princes, Paris as Barça beat OGC Nice in the final to win their second Latin Cup in four years.  

1961 – Barcelona are beaten 4-3 by Valencia in the Trofeo Naranja final game, Evaristo (2) and Verges the scorers for Barça.

1974 – Real Madrid defeat Barça 4-0 in the Copa del Generalísimo Final, played at Vicente Calderon.

1983 – Barcelona win the Copa de La Liga with a 4-3 aggregate win over Real Madrid. A Maradona penalty and Alexanco strike saw Barca win 2-1 at the Camp Nou.

1997 – As Barcelona celebrate Copa del Rey victory, Louis Van Gaal is confirmed to the press as Barça’s new first team coach.

2010 – Barça confirm the departures of Thierry Henry and Yaya Touré.

June 30

1913 – Francesc de Moxó takes over as club president at a meeting held in the Condal College, attended by 700 people, at which Gamper left the Club to attend to personal matters. De Moxó got 183 votes, beating Gaspar Rosés with 172 and Joaquim Peris, who obtained 59.

1930 – Tomas Roses steps down as president. Gaspar Rosés begins his third and final term as president, during which founder Joan Gamper passes away.

1984 – An FC Barcelona Amateur side defeat CE Manresa on penalties (3-3 aet, 4-3 on pens) at the Mini Estadi in the first edition of the Copa Generalitat, the first Catalan championship since the death of General Franco.

2007 – The club announces on it’s offical site that it has its highest membership ever, 156,366, which means growth of 7.92% over the last twelve months.

2010 – Txiki Begiristain leaves his post as FC Barcelona director of football.

2017 – FC Barcelona announce that they have activated the buy back clause of La Masia graduate Gerard Deulofeu.
