1979 – Neeskens scores as Barça win 1-0 over Sevilla but the club end the season in fifth place.

1953 – Holders Barça overturn 1-0 deficit to go through to the Copa semifinal 3-1 on aggregate against Real Santander. Goals: Cesar (2) and Basora.
1982 – Diego Maradona signs with FCB for the then-highest transfer fee paid by the club.
1983 – A 90th minute goal from Marcos gives Barça victory in the Copa del Rey final over Real Madrid in Zaragoza. Victor the other scorer. It is the club’s 20th Copa del Rey title.
1985 – Goals from Marcos (22) and Caldere (43) give Barca a 2-0 QF first leg win over Real Sociedad in the League Cup.

1943 – Barça beat Real Madrid 3-0 at home in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final. Scorers: Valle (34), Escolà (43), Sospedra (60). The second leg was to be a different story (11-1).
1954 – Barça are defeated 1-0 away at Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey SF first leg, eventually going through 2-3 on aggregate.
1970 – Albert Ferrer is born. Moreover, he made 204 Liga appearances for the club from 1990-98, scoring 1 goal.
1970 – Barça face Madrid in the quarterfinals of the Copa. When a penalty is given for a foul outside the box, the infamous ‘Cushions riot’ ensues. The game ends 1-1, 3-1 to Madrid on aggregate.
1972 – Luis Cembranos is born. Moreover, he made 3 Liga appearances for the club from 1994-95.
1976 – The first game for the Catalan XI since the end of the Franco regime features Carles Rexach and guest players Johan Cruyff and Johan Neeskens, the latter scoring in the 1-1 draw with the USSR.
2015 – Barcelona become the first club in history to win two trebles with a 3-1 win over Juventus in Berlin.

1936 – Barcelona are beaten 4-2 away at Osasuna in the Copa del Presidente de la Republica semi semifinal first leg.
1953 – Holders Barcelona defeat Atletico Madrid 8-1 at home in the Copa semifinal first leg. Basora 3, Moreno 2, Kubala 2, Cesar with the goals.
1959 – Though 2-0 down at half-time, Barça defeat Real Madrid 4-2 away in the Copa semifinal first leg. Scorers: Kocsic (51, 69), Luis Suárez (67, 71)
1961 – Enric Laudet is re-elected President after a hard fought campaign against another former director, Jaume Fuset. Llaudet found a club in a difficult economic situation, with a debt of 289 million Spanish pesetas, largely for the construction of the Camp Nou. Unpopular decisions were taken, such as letting Kubala go and new players like Pesudo, Pereda, Seminario, etc were signed. His reign also saw the departure of Antoni Ramallets and Luis Suárez, the latter for 25 million pesetas, the most expensive in football history to date. On the pitch, Barcelona won the 1962-63 Copa del Rey and the 1965-66 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup under the reign of Llaudet.
1968 – Juan Antonio Pizzi is born. Moreover, he made 48 Liga appearances for the club from 1996-98, scoring 11 goals.
1987 – Steve Archibald scores twice as Barça beat Espanyol 2-1 at home in La Liga in the clubs’ fourth meeting of the season.

1955 – Barça beat Racing Paris 3-5 at Parc des Princes with goals from Suárez, Villaverde (2), Mahjoub (OG) and Mandi.
1974 – Clares scores as Barcelona draw 1-1 with Espanyol in the Copa.
1984 – Javier Mascherano is born. Moreover, he made 203 Liga appearances for the club from 2010-18, scoring 1 goal.

1993 – the first leg of the CdR SF ends in a 1-1 draw between Barça and Real Madrid. Bakero and Zamorano the scorers.
2007 – Lionel Messi scores twice as Barça draw 2-2 at home to Espanyol in La Liga.
2008 – President Joan Laporta and his board narrowly escape a vote of no-confidence that would have triggered a presidential election.

1910 – Ramón Zabalo is born. Moreover, he made 89 Liga appearances for the club from 1929-37 and 1944-45, scoring 5 goals.
1912 – Enrique Fernández Viola is born. Moreover, he made 17 Liga appearances for the club from 1935-36, scoring 8 goals.
1917 – Following Joan Gamper’s resignation, Ricard Graells takes over as president. Under his presidency the team won a Campeonat de Catalunya and a Copa del Rey. He also raised the cost of membership from two to three presetas and paid off 16,000 pesetas of debt, meaning the club was debt-free for the first time in its history.
1927 – László Kubala is born. Former Barcelona player (1951-61) and coach (1961-63 and 1980), László Kubala.
2003 – A post appears on Manchester United’s official site, arranged by Laporta’s group and MUFC, stating an agreement between two clubs that if if won elections, David Beckham would sign for Barcelona.

1903 – Vicente Piera is born. Moreover, he made 53 Liga appearances for the club from 1920-33, scoring 4 goals.
1935 – Eulogio Martínez is born. Moreover, he made 111 Liga appearances for the club from 1956-62, scoring 62 goals.
1936 – José Manuel Pesudo is born. Moreover, he made 65 Liga appearances for the club from 1961-66.
1986 – Barca are defeated 1-0 away in the first leg of the last ever League Cup Final by Real Betis.

1963 – Barcelona beat Pele’s Santos, the current world champions, 2-0 at the Camp Nou in a friendly game.

2014 – Barcelona and Chelsea confirm the sale of Cesc Fabregas after three seasons at FCB.

1943 – Real Madrid beat Barça 11-1 at home in the Copa del Rey semi-final. The match took place amongst high tensions. Before the game alleged that ref went to Barça changing room accompanied by police and said that he’d lay down the law severely. 8-0 at half time, players felt they were being discriminated against but then the head of state security is alleged to have told them they better play the second half if they wanted to leave the stadium alive. Afterwards the board offered its resignation. Both teams are fined.
1954 – Barça defeat Madrid 3-1 (3-2 on aggregate) in the Copa del Rey semi-final. César (9, 12) and Biosca (87) the scorers as Barcelona go through to their fourth straight final.
1996 – Jordi Cruyff scores his first and only goal for the Netherlands in a 2-0 win over Switzerland.
June 14
1925 – Benefit mach to raise funds for Orfeó Català between Barça and Juniper. Primo de Rivera bans any tribute to days before. This angered many and when Royal Marines band began to play Spanish national anthem at half-time, the stands whistled before applauding a quick change to English national anthem. A military edict is issued in the next few days – fines for directors and a ban on club activities for six months.
1936 – Escola scores five as Barcelona beat Osasuna 7-1 in the Copa semifinal second leg, to go through 9-5 on aggregate.
1942 – Barça win 3-2 at home in the Copa del Generalísimo semifinal second leg against Valencia to go through to the final 5-3 on aggregate.

1959 – Goals from Luis Suárez (p. 34, 44),Villaverde (63) see Barça beat Madrid again in the CdG semi-final second leg, this time 3-1. Previous leg was 4-2 away win.
1960 – Vicente Piera dies 1986 – Two first half goals from Amarilla and Alexanco overturn Betis’ 1-0 first leg win as Barca win the last ever Spanish League Cup at the Camp Nou.
1997 – Real Madrid beat neighbours and reigning champions Atletico Madrid 3-1 to win the Liga title.
2001 – Barcelona are embarrassed by fourth division part-timers Balaguer in the Catalunya Cup, beaten 4-3 on penalties after 2-2 draw.

1950 – Ladislao Kubala signs for the club along with coach Ferdinand Daučík. He does not make his Liga debut until 1951, due to a ban imposed by FIFA and the Hungarian Football Federation.

1913 – Francesc de Moxó takes over as club president at a meeting held in the Condal College, attended by 700 people, at which Gamper left the Club to attend to personal matters. De Moxó got 183 votes, beating Gaspar Rosés with 172 and Joaquim Peris, who obtained 59.
1930 – Tomas Roses steps down as president. Gaspar Rosés begins his third and final term as president, during which founder Joan Gamper passes away.
1984 – An FC Barcelona Amateur side defeat CE Manresa on penalties (3-3 aet, 4-3 on pens) at the Mini Estadi in the first edition of the Copa Generalitat, the first Catalan championship since the death of General Franco.
2007 – The club announces on it’s offical site that it has its highest membership ever, 156,366, which means growth of 7.92% over the last twelve months.
