Arthur Melo : Actually living up to the unfair expectations from him?
A season ago, we purchased an unknown midfielder. Turns out he was a great purchase. His name? Arthur Melo.
Brought in for 40M€ as a replacement for Xavi, Arthur Melo came in as a nobody, in provenance from Gremio, a Brazilian Club. High expectation last season. We saw his magic, but his fitness, as well as his adaptation disappointed. Frenkie De Jong came in, and it seemed as Arthur had been forgotten.
Yet, Arthur saw, came and conquered. He wouldn’t occupy Busi’s spaces, and moreover, takes more risks. His fitness, one of the major worries about him, highly improved.
Amazing season so far
His stats, this season, are astonishing. 100% dribbles completed, yes you heard it right. The only one in Europe’s top fives leagues to have succeeded in all his dribbles. Two goals as well – Absolute bangers against Villarreal & Osasuna prove his development, with also 3 assists. Yet, 8 matches in La Liga, and 2 Goals and 3 assists.
His consistency is also amazing. Arthur right now, continue to deliver excellent matches, resulting in an average of 7.45 match rating throughout the season.
Barça’s scouts have done a great job. Arthur Melo is improving, and there’s nothing you can do stop him. He assists, he creates, he scores and dribbles. His incredible duo with Frenkie de Jong is an unbreakable bond. A magician for only 40 Millions.
