De Jong or Busquets as defensive midfielder? The first one is a rising star, while the second one used to be considered as the best in the past. Who’s better right now? By TikitakaxBarca.
What makes De Jong so special?
Frenkie De Jong is special. He’s able to cover any position in the midfield. At Ajax, he often played as DM in a 4-2-3-1, acting in a double pivot. However, he was also played as RCM or LCM in a 4-3-3 formation, just like in Barcelona.
His creativity is…wonderful. His intelligence allows him to create a lot of chances, as a playmaker. FDJ’s best asset is dribbling-his press resistance is key there. He loves to thrive the ball and create. His use of space, thanks to his intelligence, is a joy to watch. His weakest asset maybe his passing, however he still had a 92,1% succesful passes last season in Eredivisie.
Sergio Busquets, on the other side, it absolutely different. Product of La Masia and maestro of his position, CDM. In his best days, if Sergio had a bad day, the whole team has. As Del Bosque said ““You watch the game, you don’t see Busquets.
You watch Busquets, you see the whole game”. He symbolises the pivot, however he’s on of a kind. Unreal vision, he link the defense to midfield, or sometimes even the attack. Sergio is known for his problem solving. Even before receiving the ball, he’d know where to pass next.
He usually also does the dirty work, yet still initiates the actions.
Who to take? Right now, Frenkie is my pick. However, if Busquets gets his form back, I’d still choose the Spaniard. What about you?
