Match day 6 in La Liga sees us face yet another big test in the league. This time away at the Cerámica. Live from 6;30pm local time Home of the yellow Submarine, Villarreal. A staple team in the league and always a tricky test for any Barça side. After a disappointing and frustrating week in Europe, its Flick’s Barça’s chance to bounce back against a very impressive Villarreal side. So let’s jump straight into the preview.
A Quick Look at our opponents:
The yellow submarine have had a seriously impressive start to the new campaign. Currently in 11 points after the first 5 games, they’re unbeaten in the league and level on points with Atlético Madrid in 4th place. Marcelino took over the side midway through last season and you could already start to see a shift in momentum. And they’ve taken it into this season. Playing some great football at times and just overall having a rely good start to the season. They’ve scored 11 goals so far and conceded 8, which is double the amount of goals we’ve conceded. Games between the two sides are always high scorers so I don’t expect any different this time round. They’ve got some class talents like Baena and key experienced ones in the likes of Dani Parejo. It’s not going to be a straight forward game, at a tense stadium. But let’s have a look at how we could expect Barcelona to line up.
Predicted lineup:
When it comes to how we’re going to look later this afternoon, again, I think the team picks itself. We’re still without the likes of Dani Olmo, Gavi, Frenkie, Araujo and Christensen. Ferran Torres is also suspended for the game after he picked up a red card in our last game away at Girona. And with the squad being light on players already, it doesn’t give Flick much room for experimentation. However, after a very intense and hard fought game in midweek, I think it’s important to see some rotations. Possibly Lamine and Cubarsi will start from the bench, meaning there could be a chance to see Ansu Fati start, with Raphinha on the right hand side. Or maybe even Pau Victor. It would also be nice to see Ter Stegen dropped, but Iñaki isn’t exactly a much more convincing backup and it’s a very slim chance of it happening as he’s the captain. But still, would be a big statement from Flick.
My starting lineup:
Ter Stegen
Kounde- Eric- Iñigo- Balde
Pedri- Casado
Raphinha- Torre- Ansu
Lewandowski
