It’s a Thursday night, which is unusual for games in this particular competition. But nonetheless, tonight is where we begin our road to Munich. It’s the return of the UEFA Champions League, this time in a completely new format. Similar to the proposed super league of a few years ago, the group stages of the commotion has been scrapped. Leaving a new “league” phase of the competition. Our first game is tonight against the historic French side of Monaco. It’s a tricky game to begin the competition, but we’ll be hoping to set it off on the right foot. So let’s jump straight into it.
A Quick Look at our opponents:
When it comes to our opponents for tonight, Monaco. They have had a brilliant start to the new season. Currently 3rd in their respective league, 10 points after 4 games whilst remaining unbeaten in the process. They’ve scored 7 and only conceded one single goal all season so far in Ligue 1. So these guys aren’t any sort of pushovers. We can’t take the, lightly, underestimate them at all, especially away from home. So it is going to be a very tricky game for Barca tonight. But of course, we have our own built up confidence too and that’s something we have to use to our advantage. Among some of the their key players are Folarin Balogun, Embolo and Vanderson. We also mustn’t forget that we’ve already faced this team this season. In the Joan gamper game, where we don’t really need to highlight that result again. But what we know is that it’s going to be a test for Flick’s Barca side.
Predicted lineup:
The big and exciting news co,ing into tonight’s game is the long awaited return of our number 10, Ansu Fati. Flick said yesterday that he’s ready to play 45 minutes so I’d expect to see him feature. We also have the Fernandez cousins in the squad for the game which is huge for them. One player we will be missing coming into the game is Dani Olmo. It’s a huge blow as he really has hit the ground running since we signed him. He’ll be out for a few weeks, so it could mean Pablo Torre could get his chance in the team. Or maybe Flick is thinking of something else. Apart from that though, I think the team will remain the same as the one that was deployed against Girona.
My starting 11:
Ter Stegen
Kounde- Cubarsi- Iñigo- Balde
Pedri- Casado
Yamal- Torre- Raphinha
Lewandowski
