It really is getting into those final stages of the season now, and as we move into it, we face yet another huge game. This time, it’s the tie that needs no intoroduction. A game between two of europes biggest teams and greatest of rivals. It’s Barcelona vs Real Madrid. Live from the Santiago Bernabéu, at 9pm local time, it’s El Clásico. The second fixture of this historic game this season and after a really painful week for everyone at Barca, there’s no better way than to try and turn things around at the ground of the league leaders, and eternal rivals. It’s not going to be an easy game, of course, these games never are. So let’s jump straight into it.
A Quick Look at our opponents:
There’s nothing much else to be said about Real Madrid. They’re a great team with some class players, new and old. They carry a threat in every department of the pitch. Of course their new signing for this season, Bellingham, always seems to grab the front pages regardless of how he plays. And Vinicius too. There are also great players like Rodrigo, Tchouameni, Rudiger who really do combine to make a solid team. Although we’ve had an extra days rest than Madrid, they have had a better week so far, qualifying for the semi finals of the champions league. Something that we deserved to do ourselves and we’re very close to doing. But unfortunately and painfully it wasn’t to be. So confidence and momentum coming into this game couldn’t be different between both teams.
Predicted lineup:
As for the lineup Xavi may decide to go with, I don’t think much will change from the lineup in midweek and before that. The only possible change I could see is Pedri. He hasn’t really had the chance to slowly integrate his way back into the team after a little spell out. So reportedly Pedri may start from the bench at the Bernabéu. Although in an ideal world, our best midfielder would start in a game like this, so hopefully Pedri feels good for it. Christensen will come back in after being suspended in midweek, a huge blow for us then. In defence, things should remain the same and in attack too. I’d love to see Roque get some minutes in a game like this, it would be an incredible moment for him too. And I wouldn’t be surprised to see him feature later in the game, but from the start, I think it will be the trident of Raphinha, Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal.
My starting 11:
Ter Stegen
Kounde- Araujo- Cubarsi- Canceló
Pedri- Christensen- Gundogan
Yamal- Lewandowski- Raphinha
