Once again, fresh after a week off, we’re finally back in action. This evening, live from Balaidos, we’re up against Celta Vigo, at 6;30pm local time. I feel like a broken record this season, but its not going to be an easy game. Considering our form and how inconsistent we’ve been all season long, I don’t think we can be too overly confident against anyone. But a positive result is important tonight. Especially ahead of such an important week in the champions league. This team is in desperate need of some confidence. And most importantly of some consistency. So tonight’s game is key for that. We cant under estimate anyone in this league. We cant expect easy games against anyone. On paper, Granada should’ve been a walk in the park, even more so at home, but look how that turned out. The form has to change, something in this team finally needs to click, and tonight is a good opportunity to show it.
A Quick Look at our opponents:
Balaidos in itself is never an easy place to go to, regardless of either teams current form. It’s one of the away games which always seem to be more difficult than the rest. On a similar note, Iago Aspas decides to turn up only in these games and seems to go quiet in the other big ones. Hes always a dangerous player. Even though Celta Vigo haven’t had an impressive season. They’re sat just above the relegation zone in 17th place. They’ve scored 26 and conceded 35 throughout the season. Funnily enough, they’ve only conceded 2 more goals than us. However we have scored double the amount they have. But it goes to explain how difficult this season has been for us when last season our defence was comfortably our best department.
Predicted lineup:
A piece of positive news coming into the game is that Tigrinho is back in the squad. He was a huge miss against Granada, so its good to have him back. Hell be hoping to carry on from where he left off before he gets suspended. It was a disgraceful decision, but nevertheless its great to have him back. Apart from that, its the same squad as last weekend. However, i do think there will be a couple changes in the starting lineup. Firstly, i would drop Yamal for this one. He was simply incredible against Granada, and he’s a joy to watch. Arguably, he is our best attacker , but seeing as Raphinha is back. I think its time to give Yamal a well deserved break. Bring him on , but give him a break from the start. He is only 16 after all. I’d also put Araujo back into the starting lineup alongside Cubarsi. With Kounde off the right and Canceló off the left. I’d love to see Roque get a start, but i doubt that will happen. Fermin Lopez would also be a great player to see start. He brings energy and intelligent runs into the box. He doesn’t tire of doing them either. Maybe he wont start, but I’d definitely be using him in this game.
My starting lineup:
Ter Stegen
Kounde- Araujo- Cubarsi- Canceló
Frenkie- Christensen- Gundogan
Raphinha- Lewandowski- Pedri
