Ilkay Gündogan (32 years old) had to be substituted after 25 minutes in the friendly against France. There is some concern about the extent of his injury. The German midfielder left the field in tears. Accordingto ‘Sport1’, the first diagnosis is that he has a serious bruise on his hip. He will have to undergo more medical tests in Barcelona to determine if he can be available for Barça’s next matches.
Rudi Völler, Germany’s interim coach, after the dismissal of Hans Flick, assured after the game that there was no bone break in Gündogan. But the scans indicate that the blow suffered is significant. Therefore, he could have to stop for a few days to recover.
Waiting for more tests
In this scenario, Gündogan’s presence in the league return against Real Betis this coming Saturday the 16th(9:00 p.m. CET) at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys is up in the air. We will have to wait for the midfielder to be examined by Barça’s medical services. If Gündogan’s injury is confirmed it will be a setback for Xavi Hernández, who already has two important players in the infirmary like Pedri and Araujo.
