Romeu does not generate total consensus. Alternatives are also being tracked. He could end up being the chosen one if they don’t get a better option.
The coaches believe that Oriol Romeu would add a lot and would bring immediate performance.
There are people at Barça who believe that it’d be better to bet on Nico or play with the versatility of Frenkie, Gündoğan, Pedri, even Christensen.
Some prefer to wait to see how the market progresses, in case there are exits, before going for Romeu.
Oriol Romeu is excited to join Barça, his exit clause is more than €6m. Girona don’t know anything about Barça and they’d like to keep him.
Although there is interest in Estanis, Girona don’t want to mix the deals. They only refer to the clause.
The next week can be key, since Barça will have to take a decision in this regard. Like Barça, Girona also begin the pre-season on July 10.
No “Top” option on sight
Xavi wanted a world class player to replace Busquets. Both Zubimendi and Kimmich were targets. Afterwards, Brozović was the preferred option. However, the three of them look like they’re out of the picture.
Another option is to bring a short term stop gap. And Oriol Romeu is just that.
