Ronald Araujo will make his 100th appearance in a Barça shirt at Old Trafford. Since his debut on 6 October 2019, Araujo had 99 appearances, with a record of 65 wins, 19 draws and 15 defeats.
Araujo, who did not play against Cádiz (2-0) due to suspension, joined Barça at the end of August 2018 from Boston River of Uruguay. He signed for five seasons (until June 2023) and Barça paid €1.7 million plus variables up to a maximum of €5.2 million. In April 2022 he signed a new contract until June 2026, increasing his clause from €200 million to €1 billion.
Araujo’s first game had a bittersweet taste for the Charrúa. He came on in the 73rd minute against Sevilla for Todibo and received a red card for a foul on ‘Chicharito’ when he was the last defender. In any case, he assured at the end that “the sending off will not cover up the happiness of my debut at Camp Nou”.
