Evan N’Dicka could be Barça’s big signing for the centre of defence for next season. According to German ‘SPORT1’, Barça already reached a verbal agreement with the French centre-back to sign him on 1 July. He will be a free transfer, as his contract expires with Eintracht Frankfurt.
N’Dicka has no plans to renew with the Bundesliga side. Moreover, according to reports in Germany, Barça already have the player’s ‘yes’. However, now the operation is subject to the club’s decision to go ahead with the signing. As the German newspaper reports, the decision on his signing will arrive on March. The player will then have just three months left on his contract.

The 23-year-old French centre-back has impressed at Frankfurt and has the profile that Barça are looking for. A left-footed centre-back, cheap, young and with good ball control. In addition, he is a player who can play both on the left side of a three-man defence and in a back four.
It is not the first time that N’Dicka’s name has been mentioned as a potential reinforcement for the Catalan giants. He has been performing at a high level in Germany for several seasons and is determined to try his luck at a big club. His free agent status as of July makes him one of the bargains of the upcoming summer transfer window.
Barça already has the best defense in Europe this season, and signing N’Dicka will possibly make it even better. However, will Xavi even need another high profile defender like him?
Making the defense even better?
Barcelona already has Araujo, Kounde, Christensen, Eric Garcia and Marcos Alonso as options for the center back position. Furthermore, Umtiti and Lenglet will finish their loan spells this summer too. And don’t forget Chadi Riad who keeps growing all the time.
However, having someone like Evan N’Dicka might be a ‘Market opportunity’ that Barça wouldn’t want to avoid. In the current market, bringing such a good defender seems like a no-brainer to me.
