Xavi’s solutions if there are no signings in the winter
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on WhatApp

Yesterday, President Joan Laporta warned of the possibility that Barça would not sign in this winter market. Despite Xavi’s reported desire to strengthen the squad.

According to Laporta: “We have a team that we built in the summer and in principle we don’t have to do anything unless unforeseen circumstances arise that we have to resolve”

The initial plan of the sports management was to reinforce the right back position as a priority.  Moreover,  the club thought of an arrival of a midfielder and even that of a central defender due to the departure of Pique.

Without going to the market Xavi will have to provide solutions. However, he can find many options in the squad.

Right Back

Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff had the intention of strengthening the right-back position. Currently,  the squad has 2 players. Hector Bellerin, who is not playing a lot, and Sergi Roberto, who is recovering from an injury.

As an option, Xavi can use the central defenders. Koundé has already played for Barcelona in this position. Moreover he is also playing as a full-back with the French team.

When he recovers, Araujo can also occupy the right back position. But it will depend on Xavi’s desire to use him there.

And as another alternative, Balde already played on the right back. Although he’s left-footed, Balde did well as a right back.

Center Back

As fifth center back, after the retirement of Pique mid season, Xavi can use Marcos Alonso. He’s already familiar with this position. Most of the games Alonso played since joining,  he did that in the Center-back position.

Midfield and attack

In the center of the field, the versatility of De Jong Solves the need to rest Busquets and to strengthen the game of the interiors.

In the attack Memphis is at the exit door. But yes Xavi needs a 9 alternative to Lewandowski  while he’s out with his suspension. Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres can both occupy the striker position as well.
