Robert Lewandowski will miss the next three matches in La Liga when the competition resumes. RFEF decided this on Wednesday.
The Barcelona striker is currently with Poland at the World Cup. He is hopeful an appeal will reduce the suspension, which is broken down in the following way. One game for the two bookings and two games for the gesture he made as he left the pitch.
In principle, the games that he will miss will be Barça-Espanyol (Dec. 31), Atlético-Barça (Jan. 8) and Barça-Getafe (Jan. 22).
The match against Real Betis scheduled for Jan. 14 will be rearranged to make room for the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia. Therefore Lewandowski will miss the Getafe game instead.
Copa del Rey and Super Cup
On the other hand, it is an expulsion for two bookings and not a direct red card. Therefore, the punishment only affects the league and not the rest of the competitions.
Lewandowski will be able to play the Super Cup match against Betis and the first round of the Copa del Rey that Barça will play in the first week of January when they enter the cup tournament.
The RFEF also announced the sanction for Gerard Piqué, who was sent off in the same match even though he was on the substitute bench.
The former Barça defender has been sanctioned for four games, although in his case the matter will remain an anecdote because he retired after that game.
