How Xavi’s Barça responded to European defeats so far?

The azulgrana team drew after 3-0 in Munich last year, lost after the defeat against Eintracht and the invasion of their fans and won after falling at the Allianz Arena less than a month ago.

After Tuesday’s painful defeat in Milan, beating Celta this Sunday is a must. Barça wants to reach El Clasico as leaders. Moreover,  they want to face the necessary ‘revenge’ against Inter with confidence.

After the loss vs Bayern last season

Last year in Munich, Barça needed to win to go to the round of 16. But they lost without discussion (3-0). The Blaugrana did not react in their next match and points were left in the visit to El Sadar (2-2). At that time Barça kept moving away from the first places. Barça took the lead twice  with goals from Nico and Abde. But then, Barça continued to exhibit its defensive shortcomings and its inability to close games. David Garcia tied just two minutes after the 0-1 and Chimy Avila  signed the draw in the 86th minute.

After the loss vs Frankfurt

Barça said goodbye in the worst way of the Europe League with a home loss to Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarterfinals (2-3). But this match is remembered above all for the embarrassing invasion of German fans in the stands of the Camp Nou. Four days later, Xavi’s team had the opportunity to turn the page. A victory would have put them 12 points behind the leader, Real Madrid, with one less game and still six more games to go. But Barça lost against all odds against Cádiz (0-1) with a goal from Lucas Perez. It was the final goodbye to title options.

After recent loss vs Bayern

Less than a month ago, Barça conceded their first defeat in this Champions League. Despite a great first half in the Allianz Arena (2-0) where the VAR did not give a clear penalty on Dembele. after the break, Lucas Hernandez and Sane put Bayern ahead, with no reaction from Barça. Four days later, Xavi’s men faced a comfortable opponent at the Camp Nou against Elche and they did not fail (3-0). However this was a rival who was left with ten very soon for the Expulsion of Gonzalo Verdú at 14′. Lewandowski opened the scoring, memphis widened the difference before the break and three minutes into the second half, the Pole sentenced.
