At left back, Xavi has a position without a clear owner. It looks like Alejandro Balde is curreny the favourite in that spot. But he has Jordi Alba and Marcos Alonso waiting in the wings. Will the latter start against Bayern after making his debut as a sub against Cadiz?
The Madrid-born defender subbed Balde in the 77th minute. On the pitch he made 12 touches and with 80% pass precision.
“I’m here to bring experience and help the youngsters, with all the years I’ve had; said Alonso.
With his physique and experience, and many titles, he could be in line to play against Bayern. The only question is if Xavi thinks he is ready, as he didn’t play a game since July 29. Is he ready? This is something Xavi will have to decide
