According to @fansjavimiguel [as], Ansu Fati underwent his 3rd arthroscopy towards the end of March under the supervision of Dr. Ramon Cugat.
It was a preventive measure in a desperate attempt to save part of his original meniscus, an essential factor for a long career.
Ansu Fati was at the Copa del Rey final and had serious problems to be able to celebrate the title with his teammates, needing the help of Junior and Dembélé, who rode him on their back, to prevent him from jumping.
Trying to avoid full removal of the meniscus
Right now, everything depends on how Ansu feels in the coming days, when he intensifies his recovery and workloads.
A fourth operation, however, might be inevitable in the event that this new therapy does not work efficiently.
New Doctor, better luck?
But if a 4th surgery becomes a reality, it would no longer be Dr. Ramon Cugat but the French surgeon, Bernard Cottet. Fati visited him in March at his clinic in Lyon, and he would be in charge of the operation.
If they won’t find a solution in the coming weeks, the next step will be the removal of his entire meniscus. This decision would solve the problem in the short and medium term. ut could have serious long-term consequences.
New Contract?
Meanwhile, last week @ffpolo [md] reported that Barcelona want to improve and extend Ansu Fati’s contract for 5 years, that is, until 2026.
His current contract ends in 2022 with an option to extend it by 2 more years. But the club wants to avoid any risk.
Few weeks ago, Joan Laporta visited the Ciutat Esportiva. He wanted to personally assure Ansu Fati that the club will be at his disposal regarding any decision he makes about his surgery. Moreover, he made it very clear that his continuity is 100% certain.
