1981 – Hours after scoring twice in a 6-0 home win against Hércules, Quini is kidnapped at gunpoint from his own front door. He is released unharmed after 25 days.
1995 – César dies
1997 – Barça fall to a 4-0 away defeat to Tenerife, conceding two penalties and having two men sent off. With thirty-seven league goals conceded so far is Barcelona’s worst defensive start in more than 30 years.
2005 – Barça cannot record a derbi win, instead drawing 0-0 with Espanyol in La Liga.
2008 – Ronaldinho scores his last goal for Barcelona in a 4-2 defeat to Atleti
2017 – Barcelona coach Luis Enrique announces he is to leave at the end of the season.

1941 – Barça beat Athletic Bilbao 1-0 at home to end the season in fourth place. Escola the scorer.
1952 – César scores a hat-trick as Barça beat Real Madrid 4-2 at Les Corts. Vila Soler with the other goal.
1960 – Sandor Kocsis scores four in a 5-2 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, the most goals at the time scored in a single European game, in the European Cup quarter final. Barça go through 9-2 on aggregate. Footage here.
1981 – Quini kidnapping: La Vanguardia receive fake anonymous call saying “a separatist team cannot win the league.” Nunez declares there is “no news” but says several players have received anonymous threats. A letter emerges later that night saying Quini is fine.
2013 – Barça lose their second Clásico in a week, going down 2-1 at the Bernabeu. The first time in five years that Barça have lost three out of four matches.
2019 – FC Barcelona record a second Clásico win in 72 hours with a 1-0 Liga win away at Real Madrid.

1944 – Gallego is born. Made 248 Liga appearances for the club from 1965-75, scoring 17 goals.
1951 – A general strike protesting social and economic conditions, triggered by a 40% rise in tram fares, reaches its climax. Supporters continue boycott after 2-1 win over Santander at Les Corts by walking home in the rain, leaving the trams empty.
1961 – Salva is born. Made 22 Liga appearances for the club from 1984-89.
1973 – Barça lose 1-0 at home to RCD Espanyol in La Liga.
2001 – Rivaldo and Raul each score a brace as Barça draw with Real Madrid 2-2 at the Bernabéu in the league.

1981 – Clemente Gràcia dies. During the 1921-22 season he scored the most goals (59) scored by a player in a season at the time.

1958 – Barcelona beat Real Valladolid 7-1 at home in La Liga with goals from Evaristo (3), Kubala (2), Ribelles and Villaverde.
1969 – José Antonio Zaldúa scores in his fourth-straight Liga Clásico as Barça draw 1-1 at the Camp Nou. Gento scored Madrid’s 87th minute penalty.
1997 – Barcelona’s 3-0 win over Compostela sees the debut of PPV television in Spain and also marks Guillermo Amor’s 500th game for the club.

1913 – Barça plays its second successive Copa del Rey final, the first leg finishing 2-2 against Real Sociedad at Camp de la Indústria. Goals: Forns, Apolinario.
1930 – Ramón Alberto Villaverde is born. Made 162 Liga appearances for the club from 194-63, scoring 53 goals.
1930 – Barça are beaten 4-3 away to eventual champions Athletic Club. Diego, Arocha, and Bestit the scorers.
1938 – Fascists drop bomb on the club social club, causing serious damage. A few months later, the city was under fascist occupation. Under the command of the Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, Italian aircraft stationed on the island of Majorca attacked 13 times dropping 44 tons of bombs, aimed at the civil population. These attacks were at the request of General Franco as retribution against the Catalan population. On the night of March 16, 1938 a bomb destroyed the clubhouse on Calle Consell de Cent, trophies, papers, books and souvenirs

1907 – The Campionat de Catalunya ends in a playoff after a controversial refereeing performance in the last game of the season between Barça and X SC, but FCB lose 3-1 in Terrassa.
1913 – The second leg of the Copa del Rey final takes place and ends 0-0 against Real Sociedad. The game will be replayed.

1913 – Barça wins its second successive Copa del Rey with a 2-1 win over Real Sociedad in the replay at Camp de la Indústria.

1981 – Quini is freed. He speaks well of his captors and withdraws charges, but Barça proceed with their claim for compensation after a period which saw the club’s Liga challenge damaged.

1916 – The first meeting between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey ends in a 2-1 win for Barça. Alcantara, Martinez the scorers. Barça lose the second leg, draw the first replay, and lose the second replay.
1922 – Former Barcelona coach (1961) Enrique Orizaola is born. Enrique Orizaola had a short-lived period as manager, staying at the Club for only five months. He arrived on 12th January 1961 as a replacement for Brocic.
1933 – Barça draw 4-4 with Racing Santander in the final game of the Liga season, finishing in fourth place.

1909 – Barça seal the Campionat de Catalunya title with a 4-0 home win over Galeno. Charles Wallace finishes top scorer. Wallace, Withe and Quirante (2) the scorers.
1940 – Luis Cubilla is born. Made 16 Liga appearances for the club from 1962-64, scoring 2 goals.
1948 – Barcelona beat RCD Espanyol 5-1 at Les Corts in La Liga with goals from Cesar (4) and Seguer.
1954 – Ground is broken on construction of Camp Nou, the largest public engineering project ever undertaken in city. Move announced in 1950, it took four years for members to raise the funds necessary. Construction took three years and went 336% over budget before being officially opened in September 1957. The first stone was laid on 28 March 1954 and the proposed 66 million peseta project was to be financed entirely by club socios. Designed by local architects J. Soteras Mauri & F. Mitjans Miro, it would feature two huge tiers and a modern cantilevered roof over the west side.

1931 – Barça draw 1-1 away at CD Alaves in the league while Athletic Bilbao are crowned champions.

1960 – Barça draw 0-0 away at Birmingham City in the first leg of the Fairs Cup Final.
1973 – Marc Overmars is born. Made 97 Liga appearances for the club from 2000-04, scoring 15 goals.
1981 – Real Madrid win the 100th Clásico in the league 3-0 with goals from a Juanito penalty, Santillana and Stielike.
2014 – Lionel Messi scores a penalty as Barcelona defeat Espanyol 1-0 at the Cornella El Prat in La Liga.

1930 – The final game of Barça’s second Liga sees them lose 5-1 to Real Madrid at Estadio Chamartín. They finish the season in second-place after Athletic.
1947 – Goals from Jose Bravo and Alfonso Navarro (2) help Barça overcome a second-half brace from Madrid’s Pedro Arsuaga to win 3-2 at Les Corts.
1964 – Barça is beaten 2-1 at the Camp Nou by goals from Real Madrid’s Gento and Puskas. Zaldua with Barça’s goal.
1975 – Barça win 4-1 over Espanyol at home in La Liga with goals from Clares (2), Heredia and Rexach, avenging defeat earlier in season.
1988 – José Alexanko scores the only goal of the game in the Copa del Rey final against Real Sociedad, FCB’s 21st Copa title.
2013 – Messi becomes the first player in history to score against all Liga opponents in consecutive games as Barcelona draw 2-2 with Celta de Vigo.
2019 – Lionel Messi scores a late double in the derbi barceloni against Espanyol in a 2-0 win.
