April 1

1928 – Arnau (2), Samitier (2), Walter, Sastre and Piera all score as Barça beat Patria Aragon 7-0 at home in the Copa del Rey Group 3.

1951 – Barcelona beat CD Malaga 7-2 in La Liga at Les Corts with goals from Tejedor (2), Calvet (2), Szegedey, Nicolau and Basora.

1954 – Former player Ramon Guzman dies during a veterans match agaed 47.

1962 – Barça beat Racing de Santander 8-0 at home but end the season in second place after Real Madrid.

1969 – Ernest Francis Witty Cotton dies

1978 – Barça are held to a 1-1 draw at home by RCD Espanyol in La Liga.

1989 – FC Barcelona earn a 0-0 draw at Camp Nou with Real Madrid.

2006 – 1-1 draw with Real Madrid at Camp Nou, Ronaldinho (pen) the scorer for Barcelona. 

2008 – Bojan Krkic scores his first Champions League goal (aged 17 years and 217 days) against Schalke 04. He is the first person born in the 1990s to score in the Champions League. 1-0 win for Barcelona.

April 2

1916 – The second leg of the first Copa del Rey clasicos ends in a 4-1 defeat to Madrid. With Barça having won the first match, the tie will be replayed.

1922 – Barça draw 1-1 with Sporting in Gijon in the Copa del Rey semifinal first leg.

1986 – Ibrahim Afellay is born. Made 21 Liga appearances for the club from 2010-15, scoring 1 goal.

1996 – Barça leave Bayern Munich with a 2-2 draw in the UEFA Cup semi-final first leg. Oscar and Hagi the scorers.  

2014 – Barcelona are hit with a year-long transfer ban for breaching Fifa’s rules on the transfer of players aged under 18.

2016 – Barcelona’s record 39 game unbeaten run ends with a 2-1 home loss to Real Madrid.

2017 – Barcelona B demolish CD Eldense 12-0 at the Mini Estadi

2017 – Neymar nets his 100th Barcelona goal in their 4-1 away win at Granada

April 3

1932 – A late penalty scored by Angel Arocha helps salvage a 2-2 draw at Les Corts after Barça lost the lead given to them by Samitier’s 20th minute goal in El Clásico Real Madrid end the season as champions.

1941 – Salvador Sadurni is born. Made 247 Liga appearances for the club from 1960-76.

1949 – Barça beat Real Valladolid 6-0 at Les Corts in La Liga with goals from Canal (3), Seguer (2) and Marcos Aurelio.

1951 – Jose Antonio Ramos ‘Pepito’ is born Made 119 Liga appearances for the club from 1976-83.

1966 – UD Las Palmas beat Barça 2-1 at Estadio Insular as Barcelona finish third in the league.

1984 – Maxi Lopez is born. Made 14 Liga appearances for the club from 2005-07.

2010 – Jeffren scores his first top division league goal after a cross from Eric Abidal, in a 4-1 home win against Athletic Bilbao

April 4

1920 – Barcelona 4-4 Real Union in Barcelona in Copa del Rey semi-final first leg. 5-4 on aggregate.

1926 – Barça wins their fourth and final game in their Copa del Rey group 3-0 at home to Zaragoza and go through to the quarterfinals.

1943 – Barça beat Granada 3-2 away and finish the season in third place. Martin (2) and Cesar the scorers.

1967 – Hector Scarone dies

1993 – Lluís Carreras makes his first team debut appearing in a 3-0 home success against CD Logroñés, in what would be his only first division match of the season.

2019 – FC Barcelona go ahead 2-0, go down 4-2 and come back for a 4-4 win away at Villarreal.

April 5

1925 – Barça beat Stadium de Zaragoza 8-0 at home in the Copa del Rey to finish top of Group I and qualify for the semifinals.

1931 – Barça beat Real Madrid 3-1 at Les Corts, Juan Ramon scoring a hat-trick.

1936 – Barça are beaten 5-2 by Athletic Bilbao in La Liga. Enrique Fernandez with both Barça goals.

1942 – Barcelona beat CD Castellon 3-1 and end the season in 12th place. Goals from Bravo, Gracia and Martin.

1953 – Moreno scores the only goal of the game as Barça beat Real Madrid 1-0 at home.

1978 – Barça a suffer a 4-0 defeat at the Bernabéu.  

1990 – Played at Luis Casanova (Valencia), Barça beat Real Madrid 2-0 with two second half goals in the Copa del Rey final. Scorers: Amor (68), Julio Salinas (90). Real Madrid have just won their fifth league in a row. Cruyff stuck to a 3-4-3 system and the game effectively saved his job and that of Núñez.

Barça fans met at train station by Ultras-Sur armed with bricks from a local building site. Hierro is sent off and Aloisio stretchered off after an assault by Hugo Sanchez. Madrid captain Chendo laments that “what hurts most of all is that the King’s Cup has been won by a team that’s not Spanish”. The game is stopped several times due to objects being thrown on pitch by Barça supporters at Francisco Buyo’s goal. During the victory lap of Barcelona with the Copa del Rey, Zubizarreta is hit in the head with a bottle, preventing him from participating in the celebration of his team. 

2004 – Fernand Goyvaerts dies

2006 – Barça go through to the Champions League semi-final 2-0 on aggregate against Benfica with goals from Ronaldinho and Eto’o.

2014 – A total of 27,161 (72.36%) Club members back the New Espai Barça proposal, which means that the project will move forward.

April 6

1941 – Martin (2) and Gracia score as Barcelona lose out 5-3 at Athletic Club

1952 – Barcelona beat UD Las Palmas 7-0 at home in La Liga with goals from Cesar (3), Kubala (2), Manchon and Vila.

1968 – Barça defender Julio César Benítez dies on the eve of Clásico, aged 27.-

1975 – Narcis Marti Filosia plays his final game for the club, a 1-0 defeat to Celta de Vigo.

1991 – Barcelona defeat Burgos CF 3-1 away through goals from Stoichkov, Koeman and Bakero 

2010 – Lionel Messi scores four as Barça go through to  the Champions League semi-final 6-3 on aggregate against Arsenal.

2011 – Barcelona defeat Shakhtar Donetsk 5-1 in the first leg of the CL quarter final. Goals: Alves, Pique, Iniesta, Keita and Xavi

2013 – Eric Abidal makes his first appearance since February 2012 as Cesc scores his first hat-trick in a 5-0 win over Mallorca.

April 7

1912 – Barça wins its second Copa del Rey with a 2-0 win over Sociedad Gimnastica at Camp de la Industria with goals from Massana and Rodriguez.

1929 – Barça win the first Liga derbi with Espanyol 1-0 at Les Corts, Sastre with the goal.

1957 – Barça wins the second game with CD Condal 5-0 at Les Corts, this time as the home team.

1968 – A funeral chapel is erected for those wishing to pay respects after death of Barça’s Uruguayan defender Julio César Benítez. Over 150,000 visit.

1987 – Martin Caceres is born. Made 13 Liga appearances for the club from 2008-11.

2007 – Mariano Gonzalvo dies

April 8

1888 – The Barcelona Universal Exposition (Spain’s first International World’s Fair) begins today, running until December 8 later that year.

1901 – Joan Gamper scores 8 as Barça win at home to Club Franco-Espanyol 14-0 in the Campionat de Catalunya. Parson (3), Blak (2) and A. Witty the other scorers.

1928 – Barça beat Real Union Club 3-2 in the Copa del Rey to finish top of Group 3 on goal difference and go through to the quarterfinal.

1945 – Barcelona and Espanyol draw 1-1 away at Sarria in La Liga. Gonzalvo III the scorer.

1968 – Julio César Benítez is buried in the cemetery in Les Corts, next to the Camp Nou, at 6.00 pm on Monday 8 April 1968.  

2009 – Barcelona thrash Bayern Munich 4-0 with goals from Messi (2), Eto’o and Henry.

April 9

1922 – Alcantara scores a hat-trick as Barcelona beat Sporting Gijon 7-2 (8-3 agg) to go through to the final in the Copa del Rey.

1944 – Barça lead Real Madrid 1-0 at half-time at Les Corts, but lose 2-1 after Alsúa strikes just after the hour mark and Rosalench scores an own goal ten minutes later. Barça finish the season in sixth place.

1946 – Conyers/Ralph Kirby dies

1968 – FC Barcelona draw 1-1 with Real Madrid at Camp Nou. Benítez’s team mates, grief-stricken, didn’t play well and were unable to dedicate a victory to him.

1977 – Josep Planas dies

2014 – Andres Iniesta becomes the 5th player to play 500 official games for FC Barcelona following Xavi, Migueli, Puyol and Valdes as they are beaten 1-0 by Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

April 10

1910 – Former Barcelona coach (1958-60, 1979-81) Helenio Herrera is born.

1955 – Barcelona draw 1-1 with Hercules at Les Corts, again ending the season in second place to Real Madrid.

1960 – Eulogio Martinez scores the only goal of the game as Barcelona beat Espanyol 1-0 away from home in La Liga.  

1977 – Asensi scores in the first minute as Barcelona defeat Valencia 1-0 away.

1997 – Nadal scores in Barcelona’s 1-1 draw with Fiorentina in the Cup WInners Cup SF first leg. Att. 100,000. A tifo mosaic reading Basilea 79, Barcelona 82, Bern 89, recalling sites of Barça’s three previous CWC triumphs.

2001 – Barça captain Josep Guardiola announces his intention to leave Barça at the end of the season. 

2005 – Horacio Casarin dies

2005 – Barcelona suffer a 4-2 defeat to Real Madrid at Bernabéu in La Liga. Eto’o and Ronaldinho the scorers.  

2010 – Pep Guardiola becomes the first Barça manager to beat Madrid four times in a row with a 2-0 away win at the Bernabéu.

2013 – Barcelona go through 3-3 on aggregate against PSG to become the first team to play in six consecutive CL semi-finals

April 11

1917 – Juli Gonzalvo is born. Made 2 Liga appearances for the club from 1945-46.

1948 – Barcelona beat Athletic Bilbao 3-0 and end the season as champions of La Liga. Seguer, Badenes and Valle the scorers.  

1976 – Barcelona lose 3-0 at RCD Espanyol in La Liga.  

1991 – Thiago is born. Made 68 Liga appearances for the club from 2009-13, scoring 7 goals.

April 12

1885 – Francisco Bru is born. Played for the club from 1906-11 and 1915-17.

1911 – Barcelona wins its second Pyrenees Cup, beating Bordeaux 4-0.

1953 – Barcelona beat Espanyol 2-0 away from home in La Liga with goals from Manchon and Moreno.  

1974 – Sylvinho is born. Made 89 Liga appearances for the club from 2004-09, scoring 2 goals.

1981 – Quini (2), Migueli, and Schuster (2) score as Barcelona go away to Almeria and win 5-2 

1985 – Vicente Sasot dies

1987 – Barcelona gain a point with a 0-0 draw with Real Madrid at the Bernabéu.  

2011 – The Blaugrana record a 1-0 win away at Shakhtar Donetsk thanks to a goal from Messi.

April 13

1916 – The first replay of the Clasico Copa del Rey tie ends in a 6-6 draw in Madrid. Alcantara 3, Bau, Mallorque, Martinez the scorers for Barça.  

1919 – Paulino Alcantara scores the ‘police goal’ against Real Sociedad at Les Corts. A policeman somehow got in the way of the shot, the power of which sent both ball and policeman to the back of the net.

1944 – Pedro Zabalza is born. Made 149 Liga appearances for the club from 1967-73, scoring 10 goals.

1947 – Barça are beaten 1-0 at home by Sabadell and finish the season in fourth place.

1952 – Barça go away to A.D. Ceuta in La Liga and win 5-2, finishing the season as champions. 

1954 – Roberto Dinamite is born. The Brazilian scored two goals on his debut for Barça but suffered after dismissal of coach Rife. Made 8 Liga appearances for the club from 1979-80, scoring 2 goals.

1964 – Eusebio is born. Made 203 Liga appearances for the club from 1988-95, scoring 14 goals.

1978 – Carles Puyol is born. Made 392 Liga appearances for the club from 1999-14, scoring 12 goals.

1983 – Claudio Bravo is born. Made 70 Liga appearances for the club from 2014-16.

1997 – Atletico Madrid 2-5 Barcelona. De La Pena 40, Ronaldo 42,58,75 pen, Figo 88. In six meeting between the two this season have now produced 37 goals at more than six per game.  

April 14

1901 – Hispania hold Barça to a 1-1 draw in the Campionat de Catalunya, ensuring they end the campaign as champions, two points ahead of FCB.

1901 – Following the end of the Campionat de Catalunya, Gamper finishes as the competition’s top scorer with 31 goals, just ahead of Hispania’s Gustavo Green, who scores nine.

Also 1901- Josep Planas is born. Played from 1921-27 and coached the club from 1939-41.

1932 – Esteban Areta is born. Made 21 Liga appearances for the club from 1954-56, scoring 9 goals.

1940 – Barça play out a 0-0 draw with Real Madrid at Les Corts.

1957 – Barcelona are beaten 2-0 away to RCD Espanyol in La Liga.  

1991 – Martin Montoya is born. Made 45 Liga appearances for the club from 2011-16, scoring 1 goal.

1991 – First team coach Johan Cruyff returns to the bench after heart problems to lead the team to a 1-0 win over CD Castellon away.  

1997 – Ronaldo’s manager Reinaldo Pitta announces both parties have agreed a contract that will keep the Brazilian at the club until 2006

2001 – Barça draw their second consecutive league game 4-4, this time at home to Real Zaragoza. Overmars, Kluivert (2) and Rivaldo scorers.

2014 – Barcelona Juvenil A are crowned European champions after defeating Benfica 3-0 in the final 

2018 – Barcelona defeat Valencia 2-1 to go a record 29 Liga games unbeaten.

April 15

1916 – Two days after a 6-6 draw in Madrid, Real Madrid go through against Barça 4-2 in the Copa del Rey. Barça withdrew from the game seven minutes before the end of extra time in protest at poor refereeing.

1928 – Samitier scores five as Barça beat Real Oviedo 7-3 at home in the Copa del Rey. Sastre and Arnau the other scorers. George Patullo returns to the side.

1941 – Josep Maria Fusté is born. Made 197 Liga appearances for the club from 1960-72, scoring 47 goals.

1951 – Barcelona are beaten 6-0 by Espanyol away in La Liga.

1962 – Eulogio Martinez scores the only goal of the game as Barça beat Real Madrid in the CdG QF first leg at the Camp Nou.  

April 16

1969 – Barça are held to a 1-1 draw at home by Valencia and finish the season in third place.

1986 – Barça come back from 3-0 down on aggregate thanks to goals from Pichi Alonso  

1996 – Barça are knocked out of the UEFA Cup semi-final 4-3 on aggregate by Bayern Munich at Camp Nou. 

2011 – Lionel Messi’s penalty helps secure a 1-1 draw with Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. 

2014 – Barcelona are defeated 2-1 by Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final. Bartra with the goal.

April 17

1949 – Barça win 2-1 at home to Espanyol and end the season as champions. Cesar with both goals. 

1952 – Barça defeat Atletico Madrid 4-2 away in the Copa del Rey.

1960 – Barça beat Real Zaragoza 5-0 and end the season in first place to defend their title. Martinez (2), Segarra, Gensana and Suarez the scorers.  

1983 – Diego Maradona scores a hat-trick as Barça beat UD Las Palmas 7-2 at home in La Liga. Julio Alberto, Marcos, Schuster and Carrasco the other scorers.

2010 – RCD Espanyol hold Barça to a 0-0 draw at Estadi Cornella-el Prat in La Liga.

2016 – Messi’s 500th career goal cannot help Barça as they lose three consecutive games for first time since 2003, 2-1 against Valencia.

April 18

1926 – Samitier scores four as Barça beat Real Madrid 5-1 away in the Copa del Rey QF first leg. Piera with the final goal eleven minutes from time.

1965 – Barça are held to a 0-0 home draw by Real Betis and end the season in sixth place.

1971 – Drawing the final game 1-1 with Atletico Madrid, Barça end the season level on points with Valencia but lose out on title.

1982 – Barcelona suffer a 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in La Liga. Quini the scorer for Barça.

1992 – Stoichkov scores four as Barça defeat Albacete Balompie 7-1 at home in La Liga. Koeman and Bakero (2) the other scorers.  

2000 – Barcelona beat Chelsea 5-1 in the Champions League QF with goals from Rivaldo (2), Figo, Dani and Kluivert.

2004 – Javier Saviola plays his 100th game for Barcelona, scoring in a 3-0 win over Malaga.

2007 – Messi scores a spectacular solo goal in the Copa del Rey semifinal second leg against Getafe 

2015 – Lionel Messi scores his 400th goal for Barcelona in their 2-0 win over Valencia. Suarez the other scorer.

April 19

1936 – Enrique Fernandez plays his final La Liga game on in a 2-2 draw against Hercules CF as Barça finish 5th.

1959 – Herrera’s Barça beat Oviedo 7-1 at the Camp Nou to win Liga title. Supporters celebrate in streets afterwards, fuelled by earlier protests against anti-Catalan comments by La Vanguardia editor Luis de Galinsaga. 

1964 – Barça beat Espanyol 5-0 at home in La Liga with goals from Re (3), Kocsis and Gracia. 

1970 – Barça lose 1-0 away to Elche and end the season in fourth place.

1970 – Abelardo is born. Made 178 Liga appearances for the club from 1994-2002, scoring 11 goals.

1972 – Rivaldo is born. Made 157 Liga appearances for the club from 1997-2002, scoring 86 goals.

1978 – Barça beat UD Las Palmas 3-1 at the Bernabéu in the Copa del Rey final to win their 18th title. Goals: 1-0 (Rexach [p.] 9’); 2-0 (Asensi 14’); 2-1 (Brindisi 20’); 3-1 (Rexach 27’). .

2001 – Barcelona are eliminated in the UEFA Cup semi-final after Liverpool’s Gary McAllister scores a penalty against Pepe Reina at Anfield.

2003 – Ronaldo and Luis Enrique both score against their respective former clubs as Barça and Real Madrid share the points at the Bernabéu.

2008 – Barça and Espayol play out a 0-0 in La Liga at the Camp Nou..  

April 20

1952 – Barça beat Atletico Madrid 5-1 at home (9-3 agg) to go through to the Copa quarterfinals.

1986 – Barça are beaten 5-3 away to Espanyol and finish the season eleven points behind champions Real Madrid.

1997 -Barça’s lowest crowd of the season is proof that the fans have bid goodbye to the league. Atletico succumb to a 2-0 defeat at Camp Nou.

2011 – A Cristiano Ronaldo header in extra time sees Barça lose in the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid.

2016 – Suarez scores four and provides three assists as Barcelona match their own record for biggest away win, 8-0 at Depor.

April 21

1935 – Barça beat Real Madrid for the first time in seven matches, 5-0 the score. Marti Ventolra (4) and Josep Escola the scorers at Les Corts. 5-0.

1957 – Barcelona play their last game at Les Corts, a 1-1 draw with Sevilla. Kubala scored the last goal in a game that saw Sevilla qualify for Europe over Barça. CD Condal continued using the stadium until 1965. Barcelona finish the season in third place.

1960 – 3-1 defeat at Bernabéu to Real Madrid in European Cup semi-final first leg.

1963 – Barça are beaten 2-0 away from home by RCD Mallorca and end the season in sixth place.

1974 – Sotil scores a hat-trick as Barcelona defeat Real Oviedo 6-2 Gallego, Asensi , Marcial also on target.

1979 – Krankl scores a hat-trick as Barça beat Sporting Gijon 6-0 at home in La Liga. Asensi, Martinez and Neeskens the other scorers.  

1985 – Barça are held to a 0-0 draw away at Racing de Santander but finish the season as champions, ten points clear of Atletico Madrid.  

2018 – Andres Iniesta scores in his last final with FCB in their 5-0 win over Sevilla.

April 22

1951 – Barcelona beat Athletic Bilbao 2-1 at home and end the season in fourth place. Basora and Cesar the scorers.

1956 – Suarez scores the only goal of the game as Barcelona win 1-0 away at CyD Leonesa, ending the season in second place for the third consecutive season.

1962 – Barça are eliminated in the CdG after a 3-1 defeat at the Bernabéu (3-2 on aggregate).

1967 – Juan Carlos Unzuw is born. Made 5 Liga appearances for the club from 1988-90.

1977 – Mark van Bommel is born. Made 24 Liga appearances for the club from 2005-06, scoring 2 goals.

1982 – Eusebi Blanco dies

1984 – Barça beat Espanyol 5-2 at home in La Liga in Diego Maradona’s last Liga game with the club. 

1989 – Jasper Cillesen is born. Made 5 Liga appearances for the club from 2016-19.

1997 – The long running legal battle between Johan Cruyff and Josep Lluis Núñez ends with both men cleared of libel.

April 23

1950 – Barcelona draw 2-2 away at Espanyol and end the season in fifth place. Cesar and Gonzalvo III with the goals.

1956 – Canito is born. Made 25 Liga appearances for the club from 1979-81, scoring 2 goals.

1967 – Barça win 2-1 at home to Valencia and finish the season in second place to Real Madrid.

2000 – Barcelona are disqualified from the Cup after being unable to put out a full team to play Atletico due to international call ups and injuries.

2002 – Barça are beaten 2-0 at the Camp Nou in front of 98,000 by goals from Madrid’s Zidane and McManaman in the Champions League SF first leg.

2011 – Messi’s 50th strike of the season and David Villa’s first in 12 games as Barça win 2-0 at home against Osasuna after Copa del Rey defeat.  

2013 – Barcelona lose 4-0 to Bayern Munich and equal their biggest loss in Europe in the Champions League semi-final first leg.

2014 – The FIFA transfer ban on FC Barcelona is suspended for the upcoming transfer window.

2016 – Luis Suarez scores four in his second consecutive game as Barcelona defeat Sporting 6-0.

2017 – Messi hits his 500th goal for Barcelona to win the Clasico in the last minute at the Bernabeu 3-2.

April 24

1904 – Barça’s Campionat de Catalunya season finishes with a 4-4 draw at home to Espanyol, who finish as champions.

1960 – Barça defeat Racing Ferrol 7-1 in the Copa thanks to goals from Tejada 2, Kubala 2, Loayza, Martinez, Suco.  

1997 – Amid growing tensions over the future of Bobby Robson, Barça go through to the Cup Winners Cup final with a 2-0 (3-1 agg) away win at Fiorentina. Couto and Guardiola the scorers. Fiorentina are forced to play their next two games away from home after fans stopped the game several times with missiles.

2005 – Oleguer Presas scores his first and only goal for Barcelona. 

2007 – Bojan played his first match with Barcelona on 24 April 2007, scoring a goal in a friendly match against Egyptian giants Al-Ahly

April 25

1901 – Bartomeu Terradas becomes second president of Barcelona, following the resignation of Walter Wild. He later became the first patron of FC Barcelona, contributing 1,400 pesetas and helping save the club from bankruptcy.

1926 – Barça beat Real Madrid 3-0 at home in the Copa del Rey QF second leg, proceeding 8-1 on aggregate. Goals: Piera (8), Samitier (18, 51)

1933 – Josep Duro is born. Made 4 Liga appearances for the club from 1953-54, scoring 3 goals.

1937 – Gual scores twice as Barcelona defeat Espanyol 2-0 in the Mediterranean League. 

1947 – Former Barcelona player (1973-78) and coach (1988-96) Johan Cruyff is born.

1954 – Atletico Madrid beat Barça 1-0 at Estadio Metropolitano, as Barça finish the season in second place to Real Madrid.

1964 – Barça beat Real Betis 3-2 away from home but end the season in second place to Real Madrid.

1982 – Barça are held to a 2-2 home draw by Real Betis and end the season in second place to Real Sociedad.

1998 – RCD Espanyol 1-1 Barcelona La Liga. Figo the scorer.

2004 – Solari puts Madrid ahead at the Bernabéu but Kluivert and Xavi both score to give Barça their first league win against Madrid in seven matches, putting Barça ahead of Madrid in the table.

2014 – Former Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova dies age 45 after a cancer battle. FCB announce three days of mourning.

2015 – Xavi becomes the first player to play 500 Liga games for Barcelona as they defeat Espanyol 2-0. Neymar and Messi the scorers.

April 26

1903 – Barça draw 2-2 with Espanyol in the final game of the Copa Barcelona, ending the season as champions. Gamper is once again top scorer by some distance with 21 goals, followed by Steingberg and d’Osso with six.

1973 – Óscar García is born. Made 69 Liga appearances for the club from 1993-99, scoring 21 goals.

1981 – Sevilla hold Barça to a 1-1 draw as the club finish the season in fifth place, four points off winners Real Sociedad.

1990 – Jonathan dos Santos is born. Made 14 Liga appearances for the club from 2009-14.

1991 – Patrici Arnau  dies

2006 – Barça draw 0-0 with AC Milan and go through to the Champions League final in Paris 1-0 on aggregate.  

2008 – Jose Pinto makes his debut in a 2-0 loss to Deportivo.

2012 – The club announce that tomorrow there will be a press conference with coach Pep Guardiola and Rosell.

2017 – Javier Mascherano finally scores his first goal for Barcelona in a 7-1 victory over Osasuna. 

April 27

1952 – Kubala scores a hat-trick as Barça beat Malaga 7-0 away in the Copa quarterfinal first leg. Cesar (2) and Vila (2) other scorers.

1960 – Barça are again defeated 3-1 by Real Madrid, this time at the Camp Nou, as they are knocked out of the European Cup in the semi final.

1988 – Squad held a public address of no confidence at the Hesperia hotel. The players call for the president to resign in dispute over who should pay an extra tax levied on their wages and dissatisfaction over Núñez’s leadership

1991 – Isaac Cuenca is born. Made 16 Liga appearances for the club from 2011-14, scoring 2 goals.

2011 – Lionel Messi scores twice as Real Madrid are defeated 2-0 at the Bernabéu in the Champions League semi-final.

2012 – Manager Pep Guardiola announces he will leave the club at the end of the season. Tito Vilanova will replace him. 

2014 – Barcelona are able to dedicate a win to recently deceased Tito Vilanova as they come back from 2-0 down to beat Villarreal 3-2 away.

2018 – Andres Iniesta announces his departure from the club.

2019 – Lionel Messi wins his 10th Liga title and first as captain as Barcelona defeat Levante 1-0.

April 28

1935 – Barcelona draw 1-1 away at Valencia and finish the season in sixth place.

1940 – Barcelona beat Racing Santander 3-1 in the final game of the season and end the season in 9th place.

1968 – Real Sociedad hold Barça to a 1-1 draw as Barcelona finish second in La Liga to Real Madrid.  

2003 – Interim president Enric Reyna agrees to keep Radomir Antic at the club for another season. 

2015 – Barcelona defeat Getafe 6-0 at Camp Nou with goals from Messi (2), Suarez (2), Neymar and Xavi.

April 29

1928 – 2-2 draw away at Real Oviedo in Copa del Rey means Barça go through to the semifinal 9-5 on aggregate.

1939 – Foncho is born. Made 92 Liga appearances for the club from 1960-67.

1951 – Ladislao Kubala is finally allowed to officially debut for Barça, having signed in 1950, in a 2-1 Cup win against Sevilla. 2-1 win in 1/8 finals.

1984 – Barça beat Atletico Madrid 2-1 but end the season a point off champions Real Madrid.

1998 – FC Barcelona wins its 24th Copa del Rey title, beating Mallorca 5-4 on penalties, after a 1-1 draw following extra time in the final. Rivaldo with the goal.

2012 – FCB Futsal wins its 17th consecutive European title.

2012 – Seydou Keita scores Barça’s 100th league goal in Pep’s final season as coach as Rayo Vallecano are defeated 7-0. First game since Pep announced his departure at end of season. For the 3rd time in history, Barcelona have now scored 100 goals in the Spanish league in one season.

2016 – Manel Vich, the Camp Nou stadium announcer for six decades, dies.  

2017 – Suarez (2) and Rakitic score as Barcelona go away to city rivals Espanyol and win 3-0.

2018 – Barcelona wrap up a seventh Liga title in ten years with a 4-2 win at Deportivo.

April 30

1961 – Real Oviedo beat Barça 5-3 at Camp Nou as the club finish in 4th place. Villaverde, Maranon, Tejada with the goals.

1976 – Rexach and Barça complete a Clásico Liga double over Madrid with a 2-0 victory in the Bernabéu. Juan Carlos Heredia the other scorer for Barça.

1988 – Lobo Carrasco puts Barça ahead in the first minute at the Camp Nou before Gary Lineker scores in the Clásico once more in the seventieth minute to earn Barça a 2-0 win over Madrid.

1989 – Barça beat Real Oviedo 7-1 at home in La Liga with goals from Salinas (3), Beguiristain (2), Roberto, and Eusebio.

1992 – Marc-Andre ter Stegen born

2003 – Sandro Rosell meets with Ronaldinho at a Brazil match in Mexico and asks him to consider a move to Barcelona as part of the new team, saying the apparent Beckham deal is a misnomer.

2003 – Initial polls suggest Bassatt is the clear favourite for presidency, with 42% of votes – nearest to this just 6%.

2006 – Valencia beat Alaves 3-0 to keep Barça’s title celebrations on hold.
