FC Barcelona receives Valencia this Sunday (16:15, Camp Nou) after the victory against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. The blaugrana receive ‘the bats’ in round 24 of LaLiga. In recent years, the Valencians were not an easy rival for the Catalans at the Camp Nou.
The Catalan team arrives in a good state of mind after beating the Blancos. With that win they managed to break the losing streak of two consecutive defeats at this very important moment of the season.
The last 10 visits of Valencia to the Camp Nou
Last season Barça, even with Koeman, received a Valencia with Bordalás in command on matchday 9. In that game the Blaugranas won 3-1 with goals from Ansu, Memphis and Coutinho.
It was a different story the season before. On Matchday 14 Valencia scratched a 2-2 draw. At that game Messi matched Pelé’s 643 goals as the maximum historical goalscorer in a single club. Araujo with a scissor shot was the other scorer.
On 19/20, Valencia visited the Camp Nou on Matchday 4 and it was one of the matches that raised the star to Ansu Fati. Barça thrashed Valencia 5-2, Ansu marveled and Luis Suarez scored a brace after coming off the bench. De jong and Pique also scored in the ‘Manita’ vs Valencia.
In 18/19 we find the other draw of the last 10 years, and coincidentally the final score was also 2-2. This was a game marked by the penalties given to both teams. Messi scored a brace for Barcelona.
But to see a Barça defeat against Valencia at home you have to go back to the season 15/16. In that match, Valencia went 0-2 in the first half and Barça failed to come back from behind despite a goal from Messi, finishing the game by 1-2.
Lastly, we found the other defeat 9 seasons agp. It was in 13/14 with Tata Martino on the bench. Barça allowed themselves to come back from an initial 1-0. Alexis Sanchez scored the goal. Later, Messi tied the game again to 2-2. But then, Paco Alcácer, then at Valencia, scored the 2-3 for Valencia. Barça This is one of the defeats that in the end ended up causing the Catalans not to win LaLiga that season.
