Just 3 days after the loss vs Manchester United, and Xav’s team lost another game. This time it’s against relegation battlers Almeria. Moreover, this is the first time ever Almeria beats FC Barcelona.
Naturally, us Barça fans are not excited at all with that record. Moreover, Xavi should feel worried, as the team looked very bad.
Let’s keep things in proportions
Losing to Almeria is bad, sure. Especially when we lack ideas, play prime Koemanball of crossing and hoping for the best. Even the fact that Pedri and Dembele were not there should not make us feel better. At the end of the day, Barcelona should beat Almeria, a team that just conceded 6 goals vs Girona.
However, I think anyone of us would have signed for being 7 points clear at the top of the table at that point. Furthermore, the match vs Almeria is only the 2nd league game this season that Barcelona failed to score. These are great numbers.
Hopefully, Xavi and the players will be able to turn the page quickly and have a good performance this Thursday in Madrid.
Lewandowski is missing
The Pole started the season very well, but in 2023 he’s not in a good form. But you have to take into account that Lewandowski isn’t Ronaldinho. He needs to get the ball as he can’t create much himself. The luck of creativity in our midfield is not helping him at all.
Pedri Dependencia?
Last summer, FC Barcelona tried to bring in Bernardo Silva, but eventually couldn’t make it work. Back then, people asked “why do we need another midfield”? This is why. We need another creative midfielder who can actually pass the ball between the lines. Pablo Torre is very talented, but he’s not there yet.
Same goes for the latest rumors regarding İlkay Gündoğan. Having another creative midfielder is a must. Leo can also do the job, but bringing him would be very very difficult.
Looking at El Clasico
Playing vs Real Madrid is always exciting. After the loss today, we need to beat them at their home to make a statement.
