Alexia Putellas received the Globe Soccer award for Best female Player of 2022 this Thursday, an award she already received in 2021. The Spanish international, who continues with the recovery process from the serious knee injury she suffered earlier this year, did not travel to an event that this year has been moved up a month as a preview of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. She outvoted the other two finalists: Beth Mead (Arsenal, England) and Linda Caicedo (Deportivo Cali, Colombia).
Last season, Alexia did collect the award at a Gala held on December 27, 2021. On that event she coincided with Robert Lewandowski, then a Bayern player, chosen as Best Player.
It is another award that Alexia gets for the second year in a row. She already received the Ballon d’Or 2021 and 2022 and UEFA Best Player 2021 and 2022.
