Barca will play their sixth La Liga game against Elche CF in Alicante after a disappointing loss against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Barca return to Catalunya after another defeat to the team from Bavaria. However, this time Barca actually competed and should have scored atleast twice but luck just wasn’t on our side this time around. There’s no time to sulk as next up Barca face Elche at home in the Camp Nou. After this game there will be two weeks off as the dreaded International Break is already here. Xavi will likely play a full strength 11 so the team can win and regain some confidence.
Elche CF
The Valencian team have had a very poor start to the season with 1 draw, 4 losses and 0 wins. They are coached by Fran Escriba, more commonly known as Fransisco. Elche are clearly underperforming right now as they are a much better team that doesn’t deserve to be relegated. They will surely come out all guns blazing and will look to hit Barca early and prevent them from building out from the back. Elche use a 4-5-1 and will keep a low block for the majority of the game. Barca player Alex Collado is on loan to Elche and has been the only bright spot in a terrible start. He is certainly a player to watch out for.
Every game for Barca is a must win if they want to compete for titles this season. After the international break there is an incredibly tough run of fixtures during which Xavi will have to rotate and make use of the deep squad we have this season. There has been clear improvement under Xavi but this needs to translate into results. The team is still new and players are still building chemistry but there is a bright future.
Keep calm and trust the process.
Visca el Barca!
