Here is how FC Barcelona players did last night vs Benfica.
Defense
GK: Ter Stegen – 6/10: Made 3 saves but had his moments where he was saved by luck and was lucky when Seferovic missed his chance when he got past the German keeper.
RB: Araujo – 8.5/10: Starting in a wider position away from the middle, Araujo still played excellently. The best defender of the night, and obviously at the club, he brings his courage and defensive abilities to the floor. He successfully made 5 tackles, while not even getting dribbled past. His offensive contributions must be valued as well, as he scored a goal that saw Barca in front, but it was ruled offside unluckily.
CB: Pique – 8/10: Alongside Araujo, Pique showed his class. He was important up in the air, as he won 10 aerial duels! He was important and vocal in the back, showing his leadership abilities. Overall a pleasing and good effort from the Spaniard.
CB: Lenglet – 7/10 Lenglet’s performance was actually quite brilliant. He managed five ball recoveries and had his moments where he made great passes going forward.
LB: Alba – 5.5/10 Wouldn’t be his best night this season. He failed to have any significant impact in the game, as he did not register a single chance created, while also failing to score a chance that could’ve changed the game.
Midfield
CM: Nico – 8.5/10 His high pressing is something to admire, and it is beautiful to see Xavi take advantage of it. He also managed to make 4 key passes. He was one of the best players on the pitch.
CDM: Busquets – 8.5/10 The Barca captain just produced what you call a masterclass. The balls he played in splits the Benfica defence a part, which helped make 3 chances tonight.
CM: Frenkie – 7.5/10 Not as his best but was a decent night for him. He had his moments, but his midfield partners were simply better.
Attack
RW: Demir – 7.5/10 He had 2 great chances to score, but just lacked a little bit of luck. His courage in attack was something Barca missed, but his decision making can improve, as his passing is not good enough. With more game time, he could develop.
ST: Memphis – 5/10 Memphis’s performance against Benfica is something you could call, frustrating. I complement him for making those runs but he needs and should be able to finish and capitalise on the chances he receives. He was also caught offside three times. Performances like these let’s the team down, when it actually matters. Disappointing.
LW: Gavi – 7/10 His dribbling, creativity and pressing are his three main highlights of his game, but his finishing could improve.
Substitutes
Dembele – 7.5/10 The spark Barça needed, he created a fair few amount of chances in his time given, clearly exhibiting what Xavi wants from him.
Eric Garcia – N/A
Dest – N/A
